Sounds like You have a short in your system. The only way to fix this is check all connections to you head unit and wiring harness. Most likely needs grounded or a wire crimp slipped off and a wire is loose. You may always want to check you relays and fuses.

This is if the cluster lighting still works, but the display is blank. Don't know if you mean the gauges in the cluster do not work.

I did confirm they just dim they dont go out it happens when I turn on the headlights.
had the battery and alternator check and they both check out fine.
I have the same problem, I just installed a new alternator, and battery, but radio, and instrument panel lights shut off when I turn the headlights on, any suggestions?
