Water pump replacement 1996 nissan maxima

Sirs:

Water pump on my 1996 Nissan Maxima is leaking BAD.. This is my work car and I need it desperately. Got most everything apart down to releasing the tension on the timing chain... NO LUCK... I can't get enough slack on the timing chain to pull the water pump out... I see internet post stating DO NOT AT ANY COST remove timing chain tensioner or u will be taking the whole engine apart to get parts out of the pan and TC cover.... The local deler dealer wants $400 for labor only ... is the dealer the best option....Please advise
Thanks

I just put my 1996 in shop for replacement of water pump. He said it didn't have a timing chain. Said they had 2 motors at that time and mine is the better. Is $532. a fair price to change the water pump? I am a widow and it is only car I have. Need some pro advice. Thanks, Sandie

Cruise control button stopped working 1996 nissan maxima, I've replaced it twice but it's stil not working, What to do?

are you sure that the switch is bad and not the vacuum line that operates the cruise function. check under the hood for a loose hose or a vacuum leak.

My 1996 Nissan Maxima has a milky colour engine oil & white smoke from the exhaust.

you probably have a leaking head, water is getting into the oil. if it does not stop, then try some engine seal, and engine honey. if that doesnt work, be prepared for some major work.

Car over heats and uses water and heater doesnt work no water on floor to indicate a bad heater core

im thinking this is a bad water pump which will leak from a weephole when it goes bad unless you have a major leak that would lose water faster than it could pump into the heatercore.

1996 Nissan Maxima. Timing issue.

Have a mechanic check that. If you try yourself, might competely mess up the entire timing.

Water pump is leaking on 1996 nissan maxima

No, but you have to pull off the front wheel and the splash-guard to access the side of the engine where the water-pump is.Good luck

Leaking antifreeze

you need a water pump. water pump is inside the timing chain area/internal. the coolant is leaking out of a small hole behind the a/c compressor. water pump WILL fix it.
