Hello, i really need help with my dad's 1995 Peugeot SR (Auto), which always ended in the workshop like almost alternate days, The car already went for major overhauling, whole engine been changed, you name it, still couldn't find the problem, After rectifying the idling RPM which keep decreasing below the 1000 rpm, while queuing the traffic jams, now the car starting to loose power after 20 mins journey with max speed 30-45 km/h, especially going an uphill slope, My dad would press and pump the gas pedal simultaneously, but nothing can stop from the idling car to a stop, and need to ignite the car again, Hope anyone could give me a solution to this Critical Problem that we suffering. Thank You Very Much.

carb? mono point injection or multi point injection.check for a thin rubber air hose that runs to ign module is it intact or sucking in air caused by being perished also the thin pipe running to the air intake cold /hot ,flap control .if carb then it has a adjusting screw ,and mono point but multipoint is different.91 model also uses a distributor which could be advanced a slightly ,check the same sort of air pipe to the gearbox as iam sure this year has a pipe to operate the gearchange.any of these pipes sucking air can cause your problem

being a fuel injected engine , there are many reasons this could be happening.
from the top , lets check the Manifold Absolute Pressure (M.A.P.) sensor , as it is easiest.
Find the MAP sensor , it has a couple a wires and a vacuum tube going to it and is on the firewall or fender support under the bonnet.
Disconnect the wire harness from it (small plug with wires).
If the engines RPMs drop to normal , replace the MAP sensor.

First - I am amazed at the runaround they have given you over this - and all the work they have charged you for.
This seems to be stuck in "limp mode" - which is an electronic basic running mode when it doesn't get all the info from the sensors (of which there are too many on peugeots !)
The most likely to start with is any damage to the exhaust sections - or any catylist fitted. Diesels use them to reduce particulates, and can become blocked - causing backpressure and all sorts of running problems.
The cheapest solution to you is to take it to an exhaust specialist - and ask them to check it.
A bad knock can shatter a ceramic catylist - virtually blocking the entire system.
I have a peugeot - but after numerous electronic faults - will never buy another.
