i have the same problem on my 200 cherokee sport.seems to be fine during the winter but act up on damp days especially. it will blink for a few seconds then stays on. same with the hazards so i dont think it is the blinker lever its self.

you may have a flasher problem,,turn signal on & try to locate signal flasher ,,, replace it,,if problem is still there after,,signal switch mite need to be replaced,,hoped it helped
I had a similar problem on a 2001 Cherokee I once owned. The left side blinker would stop working after a few seconds, but the right side worked perfectly. I replaced the flasher and that solved the problem. I don't know why they did that since they share the same flasher. There is also a flasher on the emergency lights as well. It's a cheap and simple fix if that is the problem. Give it a shot.
You should be able to hear the fuel pump running in the tank for a few seconds when you first turn the key to the "run" position. If you can hear it, and the fuel filter is not plugged, then it'll be the MAF. Mass air flow sensor.
