2004 Pontiac Grand Prix - lost all gauges on dash

One morning last week, when I started my car, 2004 Grand Prix, all guages and stuff on the dash were gone... odometer, speedometer, tach, dash lights, etc. All were fine the night before. I had the fuses checked by a mechanic and he said they were fine and that it might be the 'cluster' which can be very expensive to fix. Is there any possibilites that it may be something simpler?

Check under the dash below the cluster/dash area for a disconnected/broken wire.

Will the temperature sending unit make my 2000 pontiac grand prix shut off

Don't think so... I had one 2004 prix that lost it's coolant and it ran until it destroyed itself... Had another that would hit red on temp during the summer in the desert mountains. Never shut down on me though.... replaced the radiator, water pump and thermostat. My fans kick on about 3/4 of the temp gauge. Normal temp is between 1/2 & 3/4.

2004 pontiac grand prix temp guage moves up and down never really going up to second notch on guage. Last night after 20 mins of driving if droped all the way down and stayed there

This is an electrical problem. Clean the battery cables and it may fix it. Or it may need a new thermostat. This is 2 common problems with the Grand Prix

Gas guage not working.

Fuel level gauge in tank has detached or the wire heading from it to the dash gauge is severed.
