You have a fualty electrical condition,This can stem from a broken insulation wire to poor connection or the insulation that has rub through. The problem you have plaque GM. No need to by pass just get to the ignition area inspect the harness if anything you have a bad connection

SOURCE: Truck won't start

Sounds like you have several problems.
If the engine will not crank, do you have power on the purple wire on the small starter terminal when the key switch is in the start position ?

Driving in 105 degree temp, truck quits! What happened?

If the engine won't crank with compression in the cylinders, either the head gasket has blown or something else major has happened.
You will have to get it towed to a shop.
If it cranks normally but won't start, you have to figure out if it is a fuel or ignition problem.
Did the temp gauge show it was overheating before it died ?

Drove my '99 Stratus through high water & wont start 2 weeks later

If water went over the hood and into your air cleaner there's probably water in your engine. change your oil. Pull your spark plugs, leave them out for a few days to let any water in there dry out. pull your air cleaner, if it's wet, throw it away and get another one. After a few days pour some Marvel Mystery Oil into your spark plug tubes or spray PB Blaster (encase your pistons are rusted to the block)

This may not get it working, if there was water in the engine when your were trying to start it you may have bent the valves, water doesn't compress.

However I would do these things before condemning your engine.

I have a 2002 Mercury Sable w/DOHC that was drove through flooded intersection last week & stalled. The water was about 2-3 feet deep. I've replaced oil, filters, spark plugs & dried out...

when car won`t turn but clicks then the ( brushes of you starter are worn may be the man who replace used the old brushes ) its very simple thing but will get your car to start
but you didn`t mention anything about fuses and relays if you haven`t replace them all then replace relays/fuse first
you welcome any time sir .

Drove car thru water. Car died instantaly. water was knee deep. Pushed car out of water. will not turn over now.???

when you say it won`t turn over do you mean it tries to turn over with the starter or it won`t start.if you mean it won`t turn over then when it dries out a bit(water has drained from electrical components)try it again.if it still wont then its possible it may have sucked up water into the cylinder.pull the plugs and try to turn the motor over.if it does then this is the problem.if you mean it won`t start then let it dry still for water in a component may cause electrical issues when wet.just suggestions.

Drove through a water puddle and the engine started steaming and died. Now it wont start, it tries to turn over and start but it wont. What could it be?

Dodge Intrepids have a water pump that is driven by the timing chain. Kind of bad design because when it leaks a lot must be replaced.

If it is trying to turn over but won't, then something could have seized up.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.
