I need the spark plug gap for a champion L77J4 or L77JC4 plug
SOURCE: ac delco says .40 gap, champion says .60 gap why is that?
It doesn't matter what either one of them said. On my car it recommends a .45 gap, I run mine at .32 as it gets a better spark using less energy to jump the gap. On a self inductive ignition system, a good spark is very important. If this were my car, I would drop it down to .35 and the plugs will last longer, and have better performance. There is absolutely no reason you should EVER gap them at .60. This is a low RPM motor, so .40 would be ok, but I would personally put them at .35, and roll with it.
SOURCE: what is the correct spark plug gap
.35 to .40 should be fine also the parts store or a dealer can help
SOURCE: installing new sparkplugs on jeep compass
Gap is the same as original ones...should be on an under-hood sticker...Likely 35.

Good luck.
SOURCE: 2002 Chrysler PT Cruiser 2.0L need spark plug gap
It is normal for the electrodes to
wear as the plugs age. This increases the distance between the
electrodes which in turn leads to a gradual increase in the firing
voltage required to jump the gap. The gap on a standard spark plug grows
about 0.00063 to 0.000126 inch for every 1,000 miles of normal driving,
which means the firing voltage requirements creep up about 500 volts
for every 10,000 to 15,000 miles of driving.
The OE Champion plug gap
specifications are .048 - .053" or 1.24 - 1.37mm. in accessing and
changing the plugs on the PT. They have the same gap specifications as
the OE plugs. Most owners gap at .050. We prefer to use the Champion
Double Platinum plugs, which are more durable, provide extended plug
life, and reduce the need for maintenance, given the difficulty
However, if you experienced excessive rough idle with your last set of
plugs we suggest gaping the OE and DP plugs to .042 and consider
replacing the OE plug ignition wires.
Excessive gap can cause performance
and drive ability problems, including hard starting, an engine miss and or
hesitation under load, and can shorten the life of the plug
(accelerated tip erosion). If it were me I would re-gap them to the
correct specs if they are currently gaped at .060.
