2006 Chevy silverado DIC blank when starting

My DIC display is blank when I start the vehicle but then will come on after a few minutes of driving. Then when I stop and shift to park it goes out again. All of the gauges seem to work properly. The radio works also but there is no display and no display on the DIC. Any help would be appreciated. I would like to avoid taking it in to a shop if I can. Thanks.

SOURCE: 2001 chevy silverado 4.8 gas gauge not working properly

Fairly common problem with GM vehicles. The sending unit in your tank has a small circuit board that an arm is attached to which moves up and down according to your fuel level. This circuit board and arm are not making good contact. Unfortunately the only good solution is to replace this part.

Testimonial: "thought probably that was it but better off replacing whole unit .i was for for gauge proplem thanks. "

2006 Chevy Cobalt SS. How to get past the antitheft system on it please.

A nice simple answer, you can't. Think of it this way, the car doesn't know you are the owner, and it is there to stop exactly what you are trying to do. You have two computer ECM and BCM, plus the antitheft module and a number of sensors all trying to stop you. All you have to do is the re-learn procedure. Plan B is an auto electrician or alarm / radio installer or auto locksmith.

30 Minute Re-Learn Procedure
  1. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
  2. Attempt to start the engine, then release the key to ON (vehicle will not start).
  3. Observe the SECURITY telltale, after approximately 10 minutes the telltale will turn OFF.
  4. Turn OFF the ignition, and wait 5 seconds .

I JUST CHANGED THE OIL ON MY 2006 COBALT AND THE READ OUT STILL SHOWS 25% ,MY QUESTION IS HOW DO I RESET THIS .THANKS

Try this and if it does not work let me know.

1. Turn the ignition key to the "Run" position but do not start the engine.

2. Press the display button until the display reads "Oil Life"

3. Press the accelerator (gas) pedal all the way down and all the way back up 3 times within 5 seconds.

4. The oil life index should reset to 100 or the display will read "Oil Life Index Resetting", and when completed then turn off the ignition.

Start the vehicle and verify that the oil life has been reset, and if it did not reset then repeat the procedure, because sometimes it will take more than one try to clear and reset the oil life index.

If that does not work then try this procedure...

1. Press the fuel information button until ENGINE OIL LIFE appears on the Driver Information Center (DIC).

2. Press and hold the select button.

3. The engine oil life percentage will return to 100.

4. Turn the key to OFF.

5. If the CHANGE ENGINE OIL message comes back on when you start your vehicle, the engine oil life system has not reset.
Repeat the procedure.
