2005 toyota corolla light comes on then goes off for a few days e

I was told to put another can of fuel injector cleaner in. I have ran my car on low fuel for quite some time. The gas cap was also not put on right like clicking it 3 times. What do you think?

  • marytimlyons Mar 25, 2009

My car is running fine. At one point when i accelerated it would buck a little, it seemed to stop. Here are the codes:

Definition BB pressure control solenoid D electrical fault

    Proable cause

BB1 open or short circuit condition

    BB2 poor electrical connection

BB3 Failed shift sikenoid Valve Slt

I was recommended fuel injector cleaner and also to repeat this if necessary.

  • marytimlyons Mar 26, 2009

Because you did not go forth with my codes. I sent you the codes and heard no response,

I had the same codes and the same "bucking" on my 05 Corrolla. I had my mechanic replace the solenoid (not cheap) and the light stayed on & the codes were the same. He thought my computer needed to be reflashed after the fix. I took it to Toyota where they ended up switching out the computer...free of charge.

Apparently 05 Corrollas have a "bulletin" on the faulty computers. they cause the check engine lights to light up & give those readings. It is not a recall because it is not a safety issue.

Did you have engine trouble codes checked? Parts stores will do it for free. Ask them to explain what the codes mean, and what they recommend. If you have any questions, post them here with the code #'s. The engine light can come on if the gas cap is loose, but after securing, should go off. How is the cars performance? Running ok, just engine light coming on?

I asked if you had engine codes checked, why the inappropriate rating?

  • Curt Downs Mar 26, 2009

I am sorry if I didn't answer quickly enough for you, after my initial response, I went to work. On my return home, I checked and found your inappropriate rating. I have been looking for the 'codes' you listed, and I have never seen codes like them. I checked several websites that I have used to research codes in the past, and I can't find any that are BB... Who gave you the codes, and how were they obtained? With an OBD II scanner?

An inappropriate rating would be for advice that would be considered dangerous, lewd, or damaging in some way. You reposted this question, which I researched and answered with further advice and I provided more information for free, I would appreciate it if you would change the 'inappropriate' rating to something more 'appropriate'. Your other posting even says that your question was partially answered (and that was before I gave more info when I answered your 2nd posting), so since I took the time to try and help you, I would appreciate you taking the time to change the rating. If you need further help, I am still willing to try to help you if I can.

I think I put the wrong grade of gasoline in my 2005 Toyota Corolla. How do I drain the fuel lines?

Depending on the grade of fuel you used just run it down to empty and refill with correct grade, as long as you did use diesel or racing fuel youll be fine, and unless your hearing any odd noises like a pinging your fine, I also wouldnt suggest using fuel injector cleaner it doesnt really do much unless you use it reguarly

Check engine light on

I had to do some digging to find this info: The code is P2716, which is a problem with the 'transmission pressure control solenoid D or it's circuit.' It is located on the transaxle valve body. There apparently is a technical service bulletin (TSB) # 1406 concerning this. If your Corolla is still under warranty, the dealer will fix it, which is, according to what I could find, replacement of the computer that controls the transmission. The bucking problem you described may have actually been a transmission shifting problem, a symptom of this code the cars computer threw. If you did get some debris drawn out of your gas tank due to the low level, the injector cleaner might help, but it has nothing to do with this code. I would recommend you have the fuel filter replaced (to address the low fuel tank, possible debris drawn into fuel line issue), and check w/ the dealer about the TSB, it covers '05 thru '07 Corollas.
