Motor building revs when clutch is pushed in/ vibration in floor

Hyundai 2002 Santa Fe 2.4 ltr manual
Just had timing belt and shaft balancing belt replaced, but now when I push the clutch in as I change up gears the motor will build revs. When stationary it idles fine. Does not seem to have high revs at crusing speed. I can also feel some vibration in floor and pedals. The mech drove it to verify the symptoms and suggested the computer needs to reset its idle point. Wants me to drive it for a day and take it back so he can check it again. He says he may need to reset the computer himself but is reluctant to do so.
There is also an occaisional loud squeeking noise (like a slipping belt) but they have been checked and do not appear to be loose.
Can anyone offer any suggestions? Would greatly appreciate any assistance. Thanks

squeeking sound could be water pump or idler bearings, would need to have vehicle in front of me to tell exactly,as for idle problems ?? havent a clue with all this nerdy stuff on cars now,Was battery disconnected before work started on vehicle?? if not then yes it might need a nerdy white coat to reset something but i cant help their as when i studied mechanics cars had side valve engines and carbs and dizzy caps ,with cable brakes.

Hi this is caused by you timing belt being to tight or off a tooth. The tech is trying to get out of pulling it back apart. Go back there and be stern with them it is there fault. Reseting your computers will do nothing on you car due to it not having computer with adaptive learning system. Tell him that and see what he says. I cant stand techs that lie.

I have just had similar problem was on my way to work and car just stopped like it ran out of fuel . my balance shaft belt broke which caused the timing belt to jump a tooth still waiting for a quote for repair its up to $2000 so far through hyandai. after looking at other web sites realised this is a common fault with 2002 santa fe. you may want to get the crank angle sensor checked as well as my car has done two so far. hope this helps and your car is not as serious as mine

Does the 2002 hyundai santa fe have an interference engine? It has a 2.4L 4-cylinder.

Hi:
All of the engines in Hyundai santa fe are interference engines, so you should regularly change your timing belt. The timing belt also drives the water pump, so it is always a good idea to change that too, if you have the engine apart for the timing belt. Here is a link to check out!

2003 Hyundai Sonata vvvibbbrraattteess!!!!

There are Two Balance Shafts on the 2.4. Did your mechanic also change the balance shaft belt when he changed the timing belt? If he didn't, you'll want to do that. Since you mentioned the old belt was missing teeth, those loose teeth flying around could have damaged the crank position sensor and sensor blade (tone wheel). Also, the front balance shaft (on the side of the engine nearest the radiator), has THREE different positions when the timing mark is lined up - here's the glitch - ONLY ONE of them is the correct one - this is probably where your vibration is.

I need all the timing marks on a 2002 2.4 sanata

take my advice, do not try to replace a timming belt on 2.4 eng, unless you know the product, it uses a balance shaft that has a specific timing set up and you will need special holding devices to hold the twin cam sprockets, one mistake and its all over,a 2500 dollar mistake save yourself a lot of money take it to the dealer.. unless the belt has already broke, then you have bent valves and broken pistons

Vuibration in floor trouble shifting hyundai santa fe

First of all, the clutch is unrelated to the timing belt. How many miles on the vehicle (more than 60,000?). If so, when did you have the timing & balance belt replaced (at or before 60,000 miles I hope). Without a proper diagnosis, it's impossible to help you here. Take/tow the vehicle into a Hyundai Service Center (dealership), pay the diagnostic fee. They will tell you EXACTLY what the problem is and what's needed to fix it (parts, labor, tax, time-frame, etc.).
