2004 Nissan Sentra - Instrument Panel Problem

After having a dead battery I replaced it. I have no Guages Tach, or Speedometer. I do how ever have an Overdrive Off light that is on which is odd since the car is a standard. Fuses, Circuit breakers, and some wiring have been checked. Could not see a problem. Any ideas what could be causing this - just from a dead battery?

HI
IT WAS LOCATE IN UPPER OF THE BRAKE PEDAL
BEFORE YOU CHANGE IT CHECK FOR :-

STOP LAMP SWITCH AND ASCD CANCEL SWITCH CLEARANCE
1. Twist and pull to remove switch.
2. Pull up on brake pedal pad and hold.
3. Insert switch into retainer until switch plunger is completely depressed.
4. Turn the switch until it locks into place in the brake pedal bracket.
NOTE:
When turning the switch to lock into place, the switch backs off the stopper to the correct clearance automatically.
5. Release the brake pedal pad.

SOURCE: Dashboard and tail lights out on 97" Nissan Sentra

I took my pathfinder to U-HAUL and asked them to check the towing lights. There was a pinched wire by my tail light and they cut it and changed it out for me, it was $5. I am so glad that I didnt take it to Nissan. My second step was going to be getting a new dimmer switch..but the guy who worked on my car said that wouldnt be the problem. He also told me that replacing a fuse that kept blowing out was dangerous and after the first time to get it checked out. Learn something new every day!!

Blown fuse, or could be the dimmer switch. Check fuses first.

SOURCE: electrical problem

I finally broke down and took my truck to the dealer. It took them two tries, but they finally figured it out. It turned out to be the wiring harnes for the shift lever. When it exits the steering column, it was being chafed, and eventually wore through a wire and was intermittently shorting. It would blow a fuse (don't remember which one - I think it was on the bottom row, third in from the right. 20A). It stopped the alternator from charging too. They replaced the shifter harness and the problem went away. I did get a ticket while my speedo was inop however.

I have a 2003 Nissan Sentra and while driving the instrument cluster will go dead no speedometer, tachometer, gauges, warning lights or cruse control.

Two things. The ground wire from the cluster is loose or the power wire to the cluster may be loose at the connector.

Speedometer, tach and all up front guages stop working randomly!!

I answered on just like this one about a month ago. What's happening is behind the instrument panel is a plug that likes to come undone. Remove the instrument cluster, clean the bulkhead connector and re-install.
