My auto door locks on my 2002- Ford F-250 are intermittent
The door switches do not work at all or rarely ever. The remote key fob works sometime and putting the key in the lock works all the time. Can any one tell me where to look and what could be the problem. They are also suppose to lock when the truck is moved forward and that part is not working at all. Any help would be appreciated.
My truck door locks started clicking off and on when i would apply the brakes. I had someone look at it and their solution was to unplug the doorlocks, it solved one problem and created several more like the door lock switch on the door dont work and the remote will lock doors but want unlock them

There is only one fuse that mentions 'Locking', but also refers to the General Electrical Module (GEM). If you change the fob battery, you need to reprogram it to the vehicle. Or you could open any Transit around you. Lots of help below including resetting..
their is a way to do it but recheck battery first sometimes the relearn process doesnt work or the fob itself is dead also if auto /remote start will need dealer to flash fob ---- 2002 santa fe and followed programming instructions and eventually was able to program the new remote. But, I did not realize I had to program my existing remote at the same time. Since, I have retried programming both remotes many times with no success--the new one works, but the old one won't. The instructions were: 1) Locate switch under dash, behind fuse box; 2) Turn ignition switch on, but don't start engine; 3) Wait 5 seconds, set memory switch to SET position; 4) Press remote LOCK button; press second remote transmitter LOCK button; 5) Set memory switch to OFF; 6) Switch ignition OFF. 7) Confirm programming by locking and unlocking vehicle. Sounds as if the key remote had one of its buttons stuck down.this happen to me when a girlfriend used her nail to press the remote and the rubber flap got pushed inside the fob and kept the remote sending signals.unfortunately you can't just swap out batteries as most key fobs have to be reprogrammed.if you use the dealership that your make is serviced by it is better to ask how much they charge as sometimes independent auto locksmiths can reprogram key fobs cheaper.
Door control, meaning a key or the key pad? If it is the keypad or FOB, then your problem is the lock actuator. Replace the door latch inside the door. If you have problems with the key...There are rods and/or cables that release the lock. On these there are plastic clips that hold the rods/cables to the latch and the door handles and key lock cylinder. If one breaks it will usually work. But if two break, you get the problem you have now. Too much slop. Your best bet to find them is at a salvage yard.
look in the fuse box which is under the dash or in the engine compartment drivers side for the voltage relay fuse possibly square that powers the door motors and door locks . corrosion around relay or just bad relay replace and try power key lock release again and see if that works or first go into each door at a time and probe wire that leads to each door lock actuator motor and if you are getting proper current with helper pressing key to activate motor and proper current is displayed start replacing motors if intermittent wrong current or no current at each door checking with home meeter probing motor wire while helper is pressing key fob relay is bad and needs to be replaced. That is all i got good luck ps if all fails from that point replace key fob controler
if it is a ford remote or ford factory alarm remote cycle the key from off to run(usually 8 times) untill you hear door locks activate. at this exact time key needs to be in the on position.touch unlock or lock on all remotes being programmed and make sure door locks respond to remotes. then turn key off ending programming mode.then try your fobs they should work
As I was reading your complaint without looking at the model and I knew you had a Ford. the ford door lock accuators are very weak. It will make a sound that makes you think it is locking, but it won't. If you do it a few times it sometimes will lock.
By all probability you need a new lock accuator. It is not a major epence.
the mirrors most likely need to be replaced, rarely do the switches go bad. try replacing your key fob battery. do the doorlocks work from the master switch? and make sure the auto dim mirror is on. the little green light is hard to see sometimes.
Driver door module is where to look also a broken or corroded wire and if you use your key to punch in the door code then the key pad has a hole in it or it just went bad it's not the remote control also check the master door lock switch for corrosion at the pins and the plugs same with the driver door module
