88 Honda Accord battery light go on then goes off

Normal 0 When my battery light came on I first thought it was my alternator (it was replaced over a year ago). Then I tried cleaning my rather corroded battery terminals and the light when off, problem solved. Two days later it was back on so I cleaned the battery terminals again, they had a darkish gray film on them, but no luck, light on. Maybe I need a new battery? At this point I thought alt. problem again. For some reason (other than running a bit rough) I revved it up over 3000 and light when off until it dropped below 3K and it came back on. I did this for a few mins and finally the light went off. A couple of days later with the light on I went and had my battery checked. It tested OK. They said the terminals were corroded and cleaned them. The light was now off again. Every time the battery light goes off it stays off until the next day or a long time between driving. Looking at the battery (over 5 y/o) it seemed to have a wetness around the positive post so I thought maybe the battery could be leaking and causing the corrosion. The next day of course the light was on so I naturally cleaned the terminals again and the light went off then I went and replaced the battery. The next day the light was back on. It seems that the light will go off when the car warms up but not all the time sometime all I did was clean the terminals. Could this be a wiring harness problem or is it going to be a 300.00 alternator replacement? I have other mechanical problems I would rather spend the money on since it has 148K on it and who know how long its going last. If it weren’t so hard to get to I would do it myself. I will test the voltage on the battery with the light on and when it goes off to see if it matches what I've heard they should be.

Thanks for any information

Have the alternator tesed to see if it's good, if both alternator and battery are good check the drive belt and tensioner for loseness and wear, the drive belt drives the alternator, it sounds like your alternator is having problems charging the battery, if both alternator and battery are good try changing the battery cables, good luck.

1988 lxi honda accord battery drains overnight

Just a couple problems I've had. dome light left on due to faulty door open switch, spot light charger or equipment left plugged or wired to battery, lately I thought I had a bad battery but I just need to clean the terminal connections. One more thing if your car is running you can pull the negative cable off the battery. If the car dies your alternator could be the problem. If you have a light in the trunk or under the hood you could pull the bulb out to make sure you don't have a faulty switch turning them on. These are kind of simple and that is the way I start out.

I have an 01 honda accord and the battery light the doorlight and brake light are all flashing what can cause that

I have a 1998 Honda Accord 4cyl vtec that is doing the same thing but only when its cold. Once the car warms up the lights stop flashing. When this does happen the wipes are slow, light the alternator isn't charging properly. This isn't a service light issue. I know how to reset this light. Lights on the dash that flash are the battery light, the door open indicator lights on the dash and the brake light - all at the same time. I had the battery replaced since mine was two years old but this didn't fix it.

Engine slow from a stop sign and lights were dim

What you described is the alternator needs to be replaced, the voltage regulator or the rectifier in the alternator has gone bad causing your light to go dim which indicates that the Battery is not being charged at low engine RPM speeds. Replace the alternator and Battery if the it's more then 5 years old. Good luck and if money is an issue, you can buy the alternator and battery at a Salvage Yard and they have a 90 day warranty.

89 Honda Accord Battery Light is On

The FuseLink is blown. It is a 100 AMP in-line fuse on the red wire from the alternator.

New alternator and battery battery light stays on and car dies

Have you checked the alternator fuse? The regulator needs power from the fuse to turn on the alternator. The old alternator could have blown the fuse.

93 accord. battery light

Yes it could be the alternator, or more specifically your voltage regulator which is part of your alternator. An auto elec should be able to test it
