Engine malfunction light stays on

I had a split breather hose which I replaced but the engine malfunction light has stayed on

    No I did not reset the computer as I do not know how to. Can you provide instructions?

On any car that is 1996 or newer after a repair is made you must hook up a obd2 scanner or code reader to your cars computer and clear the trouble codes some auto part stores can do this at no charge. Autozone is 1 place that will do it for free. if you dont have a place near you . It can be done by unhooking the battery for a few minutes but clearing the codes with a scanner is best. If after having that done the light returns there is still a problem

check all the pipes associated with this vapour control as i think you will find that you have a split vacumn hose somewhere along the line

hello there
Make shure you fuel filler caps is on corrrectly.Also water+oil filler caps have to be tight.
Then you could try mass air flow meter .
After try to have someone replace oil separator unit for you with the breather hose.

1991 freelander stalling
on the inlet manifold is a breather from the engine i think on this year so check for a split vacumn hose or a split breather pipe ,failing which it could be the thingy on the back end of the butterfly ,their is a sensor but iam pretty sure its a breather pipe or something stupid ,also pull the vac pipe out of the servo and just try pùtting a plug into pipe in case the servo diaphram has split

Just had the air intake manifold replaced. now on our way home the check engine light came on. now a few days later my fiance came home saying it wont stay idle. i go and turned the car on and the enging...
sounds like it may be a leaking intake since you just had it replaced...or god forbid the gaskets were put on upsidedown/backwards. Might also be that somthing, (emission hose,vent hose,electrical connector did not get hooked up or hooked correctly.
