My 2002 Dodge Intrepid starts bucking/kicking over 70mph or 2.5rpm whichever comes first. What might the problem be? Check engine light is also on.
Roll up rear windows. Also, you may have a bad tire. I had the same problem with a different car and the problem was a bad tire that was worn funny. Couldn't tell until the tire was off. The check engine light is programmed to come on every so often so you'll take your car to the dealer and get it looked at, which is how the car companies make their dealers money. Ignore it, mine has been going on and off for years, no problems.
Mine was the CamShaft Sensor. Don;t buy the chaep one from the auto parts store, I went through 2 in 3 weeks before I finally got a dealership part and been running fine for 4 months now. It will run you about $60- $80, but worth it. Very easy to replace.
I had the same problem and it was the Manifold Absolute Pressure (MAP) sensor. It is located on your intake manifold....two screws hold it in and has a small electrical connector. Fixed the problem right away.
Try and find out, this sounds like a fuel pressure problem, which in most cases is a fuel filter clogged issue.
