Have the fault codes read. Replace faulty items. Use only genuine items as non-genuine replacement are not always compatible with the OEM fitted CPU units. I suspect a reverse solenoid is faulty.

1995 buick park ave will not move when in reverse, like its not going into gear

First thing is to check transmission fluid level, if level OK and no leaks, i am afraid you have a transmission repair, rebuild or replacement to be done, reverse drum is a common problem on some of the GM transmissions

The transmission grinds in reverse..2002 trans am

The best thing here would be to have a transmission shop check it to avoid more damage. i assume it drive good and the only problem is the reverse. that is the only problem you listed.

1989 ford probe automatic suddenly refuses to engage into reverse.

First thing I would suggest is, you check the transmission fluid level in your car. If your fluid level is adequate, then you may need to have your transmission bands adjusted or gears and/or clutches within your transmission replaced.

After reading your question again, I am unsure if you shifter will not engage reverse or the transmission will not go into reverse. Nevertheless, if the transmission will not go into reverse, even after the car warms up, then your transmission may require a serious overhaul. Try driving your vehicle for several miles and see if it goes into reverse after warming up.

I just purchased a used toyota 4 runner,1998, the transmission only engage reverse and not drive

I think you know you need a transmission, the only check that you can do is FLUID check f its to low the truck wont move, check for transmission codes, if oe of the codes is for line pressure solenoid that could be the entire problem, one more thing take a look at the radiator coolant if the color is like a pink shake the radiator is damage mixing coolant and transmission fluid.

Delay in transmission when starting car

Low transmission fluid, clogged transmission filter etc. Check the fluid level, check for leaks if low. Repair any leaks, if leaking from the transmission pan gasket you'll have to replace it. It'll be a good time for a transmission tune-up.

Car won't drive forward or in reverse

this is the speed shift solenoid and a possible faulty transmission filter as well. the best thing for this issue is to pull the tranny and check for filter clogs and change the shift solenoid.

Transmission fluid is leaking and will only go in drive. When trying to put in reverse will not go.

You really probably shouldn't be driving this vehicle right now. If it is leaking transmission fluid, and will not go into reverse, it means there is not enough transmission fluid in the vehicle to perform that task. Check the fluid. If there is plenty of fluid inside and it will still not go into reverse, you are looking at a new transmission. Whenever you feel your vehicle try to slip gears as you go down the road, you need to take it in to be looked at immediately to prevent things like having to get a new transmission. You may not have a huge problem yet, they may be able to stop the leak, but if you continue to try and drive it, it will result in a new trans.
