My Peugeot 406 has been revving erraticly for some time now. On some days the problem is worse but there is no pattern to it.
SOURCE: when do you change a timing belt on a peugeot 406
I would change it at 80 K along with the water pump

Most likely cause is the potentiometer that the throttle cable operates. Its either got water in it, or has become corroded or worn. You should be able to get on from scrap to try. DONT disconnect it with the engine running or ignition on - it will cause a fault and have to be reset to clear it.
(Its the sping loaded round device on the end of the throttle cable)
SOURCE: how to bleed a hydraulic clutch on a peugeot 406
you need to buy a vacuum clutch bleeding tool make by a company called MITYVAC
SOURCE: peugeot 406 hdi electronic immobiliser warning
did you try the spare key? are you sure it is an immobilizer light? what does the warning light look like, can you describe it? replacing the battery in the key will not help as it is not needed for the recognition of the key(this is done by an induced current).

if u remove the under cover in the passenger foot well, just turn the fan blower on full and hit the first thing you see when u look under the pass foot well with the palm of your hand and the blower should start to work.
