not fuel related. it was the ignition but thanx for the help anyway :-)

When you say it won't start does the engine crank over ? when you turn the key the engine/starter does nothing ? If so replace your starter sounds like it has a dead spot.

Car hard to start on humid days

Just tuned up a jetta, put di-electric grease under the plug wire boots and especially the coil wire. The moisture causes mis-fire mainly at the coil. His VW had the same problem. Small pack of grease will be enough. buy 2 packs at adavance auto for $1.09 each.

EPC means Electronic Pedal Control. Fly-by-wire for your gas pedal--instead of a mechanical cable that pulls an accelerator linkage on the engine, there's an electronic device on the gas pedal, an electronic device on the throttle body and a wire between them.
You should check the sistem with diagnostic tool.

96 jetta gl hard to start

Check the anti freeze level. It is to low the coolant sensor (not the temp. gauge sensor they are to different sensor) can make the computer to thing that the motor is to hot ( after it sits a short time the steam it the motor thinks it hot than what it is) making the fuel to lean. If it set longer but not to cold the sensor is not in the anti-freeze to will think it is colder and put to much fuel in.

Vw jetta 1996 gl model engine not staring

Probably the rpm sensor located in the side of engine block under motor mount in front of the starter where it reads the teeth on the flywheel..will cause the engine to turn over and not start or start and shut right off about $124.00 at dealer..
