How to reattach rear-view mirror

The rear-view mirror on my 2000 intrigue fell off. I was able to pry the metal clip off to get the button off. I've glued it to the windshield and now can't figure out how to push the clip back on without putting so much pressure on it that I break the windshield. Do I need a special tool to spread the clip open?

SOURCE: How do I remove metal

You need to loosen the screw with a T-15 Torx driver and slide the base downward out of the mirror stem.

The rear view mirror fell off on my 2001 buick century. i have reattached the metal button to the windshield, but now i can't get the mirror back on. is there something i'm missing/

If you glued the wrong side to the window you will have to take it off and flip it over. Otherwise the mirror should just slide over the metal piece and there is a real small alan screw to tighten once you slide it on.

My rear view mirror fell off. I bought repair adhesive, took the screw out of the mirror as instructed by the guy at Auto Zone. I couldn't slide the metal part out that I need to put the glue on. Can...

just need to pry it, slide it out, its stiff. usually if it has a screw it slides out. most dont have a screw it has a spring clip, and the clip has to be depressed to allow the button out.

My rear view mirror fell off and the little metal piece is still in the mirror. How do I get the metal piece out of it?

there should be a set screw that comes loose with an allen wrench. Get a mirror kit from the parts store to glue it back on the windshield. After it dries, reattach the mirror.

Good morning I have a 1998 Oldsmobile Intrigue and the Rear View mirror has fallen off the windshield. My problem is that I am having trouble removing the cover to access the screw so I can get the metal...

i dont think those have a cover, they use a clip that has to be pushed back in order to slide the holder out, flip it over and look inside where the slide goes you will see a metal arm that locks it in place,

Toyota Avalon Rear View Mirror

Hi-,
I had the same problem - the inside rear view mirror fell off during a hot summer day. I bought the mirror glue (adhesive) and wondered how to I separate the metal button from the mirror. Enventally, I tried the following and successully separated the metal button from the mirror: There is a little squre slot on the plastic sheath of the metal button. Please find a small flat-ned screw driver whose tip can fit into the sqare hole. put the screw driver into the hole and put it all the way inside down - which will open a little bended metal piece that stops the buttom; at the mean time, slide the metal button towards outside. As the bended metal piece opened uder the pressure of the screw driver, the metal button is freely moveable and can be slide out.
I did this successfully for my Toyota Avalon 1998 car.

Hope it helps.
