I need to remove the old shattered quarter glass and replace it with a new one. I found a replacement at a local junk yard. I've scoured the Internet for some instructions on how to replace the window in question (and surprisingly have come up with nothing). Any clear, step-by-step instructions would be much appreciated. Thank you. The window in question can be found here: http://ambassadorsubaruparts.com/parts/2006/SUBARU/OUTBACK/2.5I/?siteid=216013&vehicleid=1432741&diagram=7523690&diagramCallOut=1
On the other hand, I have yet to see a repair manual for "body work".
I would visit my local body shop, and if you want to do it yourself, instead of paying them, then slip the person some money to tell you how to go about this.
God bless your efforts.
If you go to your local auto parts store they sell repair books find your then read it

No, you just remove the radiator grill and the side marker light and the headlight housing bolts and it comes out. Not a real hard job and is Real straight forward. Good luck and have a good day.

all you need to do is remove the clip holding the washer fluid neck filler, once this is out of the way you can access the big gray backing that should have two wires coming out of it. just twist in the direction indicated and remove the cap, now you have access to the back of the bulb, remove the wires attatched to it and remove the metal clip that holds the bulb in place. now just put the new one in. You will see a small tab on the round part of the bulb, below the glass, align it right in the slot and put the metal clip back on and put the wires back on and backing cap and washer filler cap. P.S do not touch the glass on the new bulb, the grease on your fingers will prematurely burn the bulb out.

I would want to see that for myself, or get a second opinion. That really sounds suspicious since they claimed there was rust in a box that was mostly filled with oil. And I can't see any logic in paying a lot of money to fix a transmission that is working. Why don't you take it to another shop and ask them to change the transmission oil, and to save the old oil for you to look at. It would be even better to change the oil yourself. Don't tell the dealer what you are doing. The best thing would be to just pick up your car, as is. If it is a scam, they could put some stuff in the transmission if you give them time to do it. In fact, they may have already done that. I can't say it's a scam, but it sounds like it could be if you haven't done anything that would have broken off teeth in the transmission. And if teeth are broken off you should be able to hear it while accelerating at low speed in each gear.

You need some bathtub silicone sealer and some black electrical tape and a couple of small wooden blocks. Carefully break out the cracked mirror. WEAR gloves and glasses when you do this and have a bucket to catch the falling glass. Make sure the mirror back is clean and put a bead of silicone around the back of the new mirror. Keep it about 1/4 inch from the edge and some dabs in the center portion. Place the mirror on the back and tape one edge down using a wooden block for a spacer. Then do the other side. Make the tape snug so it squashes the silicone and leave the mirror alone for 24 hours. After that take the tape and blocks off and you are good to go. Hope this helps.
