There was a recall on this, see your local Chevrolet dealer....
Recall Date:
NOV 01, 2004
Model Affected:
2003 Chevrolet Trailblazer
Summary:
ON CERTAIN SPORT UTILITY VEHICLES, VIBRATION AND HEAT MAY CAUSE THE TAIL LAMP/STOP LAMP BULB TO LOOSEN IN ITS SOCKET. IF THIS OCCURS, THE BULB MAY FLICKER AND EVENTUALLY BECOME INOPERATIVE.
Consequences:
AN INOPERATIVE BRAKE LAMP WILL NOT CONVEY THE DRIVER'S INTENTION OF STOPPING TO DRIVERS IN FOLLOWING VEHICLES, AND AN INOPERATIVE REAR TURN SIGNAL LAMP WILL NOT CONVEY THE DRIVER'S INTENTION TO TURN TO DRIVERS IN FOLLOWING VEHICLES. BOTH OF THESE FAILURES CAN INCREASE THE RISK OF A CRASH.
Remedy:
DEALERS WILL INSPECT THE TAIL LAMP/STOP LAMP ASSEMBLIES, AND IF NECESSARY, REPLACE THEM. THE RECALL BEGAN ON NOVEMBER 22, 2004. OWNERS SHOULD CONTACT CHEVROLET AT 1-800-630-2438, OLDSMOBILE AT 1-800-630-6537, BUICK AT 1-866-608-8080, OR GMC AT 1-866-996-9463.
Potential Units Affected:

In order to go into and out of 4Lo you have to have the gear select in Neutral and you might have to let the vehicle roll a little. If this does not work, you need to have a mechanic check out the 4WD system.
Some customers may comment that the Remote Keyless Entry (RKE) is inoperative at times.
Cause
An anomaly has been identified with the software in the Liftgate Module (RKE functions). The Liftgate Module software is affected when the temperature is approximately 40°C (104°F).
Correction
Using normal SPS reprogramming procedures, reprogram the LGM Liftgate module. The information was released on TIS version 2.75 or newer broadcast in March 2003.
There is a fuse block under the rear seat on the drivers side. Fuse # 3 and # ^ are the ones you will check for the Lift Gate.
Often the problem can be in the harness going to the module.
Sometimes the module needs replaced and then reprogrammed.
You can download one from the GMC website. It takes a few minutes, they make you sign up, and use a yahoo account (which you can get for free), and register. But eventually you get to the area that lets you download and view the manual for your GM vehicle. It is a little bit of a pain, but it is free. I have done it with my GMC vehicles.
For an official hard copy with plastic cover, I got one off of E-bay when I bought a used GMC in November. I wanted the covered one that would fit in the glovebox. But I still have the downloaded one on my computer to look things up when I'm inside.

Hope this helps
This is a service reminder. Look in the owners manual
for the service that is recommended for the current milage of your vehicle and have it performed as soon as you can. If you lost the owners manual call the Dealership and they will tell you.
yes and no the fork is lubed by splash not submersion in gear oil also rod is only extended when in use normally not exposed for most of its life this is the most common problem with 4x4 systems the actuator rod/fork sticking 4x4 for most owners is a limited use option
One in engine compartment drivers side over wheel... another under the
back seat on drivers side. Owners manual (page 362 and next) has diagrams showing fuses for
each circuit: 2003 Chevrolet Trailblazer - Owners Manual.
The 2003 Trailblazer has separate fuses for each headlight. Check the fusebox under the hood near the battery. A complete diagram showing you where the low beam fuses are can be found in your vehicle owner's manual.
