I have an 04 passat glx. My spark plug tubes are filling up with oil causing misfires. Getting ready to replace valve cover gaskets, outer and inner, plugs, and plug wires. Did a little more reading, and found out that the coils, push in style, might have to be replaced also. Would like your thoughts on that. Also, I saw that my problem could be caused by a clogged PCV system. How do I go about checking this out before I do anything only to have to do it again next week?? Much appreciation for your advice in advance.
Valve stem rubbers need replaceing as there leaking or split
Oil may have soaked into the coils to the point where they will continue to misfire. You can try them after doing the valve cover gasket sections to repair the oil seepage problem. If you still have a misfire you probably will have to replace the coils.

Gasket need replacing and New Spark Plugs (NGK Orginal). May need Coils! If any, replace all at once, My 2000 Passat Wagon runs Great, 1,8T Wagon!
SOURCE: 2000 passat ATQ, normally aspirated. Misfire #5.
Swap #5 injector with another one and see if the miss moves .
If the miss moves then the injector is faulty.
If the miss doesn't move do a compression test and get back to me .
Cheers

The oil in the spark plug may cause the car to run sluggish. The oil may prevent the spark plug from firing correctly or cause you to burn oil. You may want to replace the oil seals around the spark plug holes by removing the valve cover and you should be able to change the oil seals underneath the cover. While at it check the engine for loose wire connections and loose vacuum hoses.
