Blower goes from dash vent to defroster

98 Ram 1500. During acceleration (50 mph or above) the air will divert from the dash vents to the defroster vents. When I lay off the accelerator, it goes back to the dash. Any ideas?

The problem is that you have a vacuum leak and when you put the engine under load and the vacuum is lessened it switches to defrost cause it takes less vacuum. Now a vacuum leak can come from many places, hole in a vacuum line a blown plenum gasket, even a check valve that has gone bad and there are 2 that I know of. I cant tell you exactly what your leak is coming from but I would check or replace all vacuum lines first.

I had a 1994 Dodge Ram. The Red Dodge Ram I had it malfunctioned and my brake became the throttle. I had to put the truck in reverse then park. to stop, after it was out of control at 80 mph a hill slowed us down. Are you sure its not electrical and the curse control is not giving you trouble? Mine had multifunction switch was not working and the headlight switch burned up. I also found out that Audi had problem with the brake becoming the throttle in the 1980s Daimler Chrysler and Audi were German made. I don't think there is an easy answer. I hope you stay safe. Another man is having strange trouble also. I'm sure there are many more people with trouble with the vehicles. I wish Dodge would step up to the truth. and recall their nightmares. I saw many of their 1996 Dodge trucks at their dealers shop with all the electrical pulled out.

No air will come out of the vents when the ac or heat is turned on dodge 2007 ram 1500

Does the blower motor work? If not check the blower motor--wiring circuits--fuses.

If it blows any air, defrost--floor--front of dash? Maybe a problem with actuator under the dash.

Air, either heated or cooled only comes out the dash vents, cannot redirect air to any other vents.

The most common cause of your problem is the blend door actuator. This controls air flow from defrost, vent, floot etc. In most cases, replacing the blend door actuator will fix your problem. It's commonly located above or behind the heater vents on the floor of the cabin.

2000 Dodge RAM no HEAT/ New heater core / AC evap.

There is a actuator on the right side of your leg while sitting in the drivers seat under the dash. It has a plastic rod for actuation manually actuate this diverter and should be the problem.

2001 Grand Cherokee blower goes to defrost under acceleration

You have a vacuum leak. Look under the dash and check the placement of the vacuum hoses that activate the vent doors. One or more may have slipped or may be cracked.

Air condition

Have you checked the diverter doors under the dash??
It sounds like a vaccum hose may have fallen off your vent controller.
I have had similar problems and found that the air WAS moving, but it was all going up through the defrost vents at the windshield.
A quick check of the vac. lines showed that one under the glove box was pulled off.
with the engine running, try setting the air settings to all the options ( vent/floor/defrost..etc..)
See it you can feel or hear the diverters moving under the dash..
