Is coolant leaking at the water pump?

Not that I know of, but I will be driving about 50 m to work each way and my husband thought it might be good to change water pump & engine seals since my car is at 90,000 miles. It has a chain, not timing belt.

Usually the timing chain will last as long as the engine and on your water pump,I would leave it alone, when was the last time you changed the anti freeze and radiator cap and flush the radiator. Also check your belts, they need changing with that mileage, normally 60 miles .

Sorry I meant 60,000 miles on the belt changes.

SOURCE: inatallation 92 honda accord power steering pump

Hey, here's the procedure, disable air bag, if equipped w/ one, disconnect the pump return hose from the reservoir and place the end in a large container. Plug the port in the reservoir. Start the engine and turn the steering wheel lock to lock several times, until fluid stops running from the hose. Turn off engine immediately. Re-attach hose. Disconnect the inlet and outlet hoses at the pump. Remove the drive belt. Remove the mounting bolts/nuts and remove pump.
Install in reverse order. Adjust belt tension, fill ps reservoir and bleed any air from the system (to bleed air from system, fill reservoir, start engine and allow to idle, turn wheel from side to side all the way several times. Shut off, fill if necessary.
. Tighten bolts to : Thru bolt 30 ft lbs., mounting nut 16 ft lbs.

most water pumps I believe have a weep hole that drips out coolant basically letting the person owning the car know that it is time to change the water pump. but then again have you checked to see if the water pump hoses are secure and aren't cracked?

My car has a leaky water pump and the mechanic said they have to replace the timimg belt as well i have a 1995 honda accord v6 engine with over 200 and something miles

yes, you should have the timing belt changed every 80,000 mi. on a Honda. You got your use out the one from the factory, if that's how long you've owned your car.

A leaky water pump is common on Hondas with that much mileage.

When it rains it pours.

Don't worry, timing belts don't cost that much to replace. really they don't.

How many miles to replace 2000 honda accord LX V6 3.0

i am guessing that you are asking about replacing the timing belt on your honda .. if so then here is the replacement schedule

under normal driving 105,000 miles or 84 months
under extreme temp 60,000 miles or every 48 months (hot or cold climates)

its a good idea to change the water pump and tensioner pullies at the same time.. they dont add much to the parts cost ...

its not a good idea to wait for belt failure. interference engines like yours will do a lot of damage if the belt fails.

WHEN DOES THE TIMING BELT FOR A 2004 HONDA ACCORD GET REPLACED?

It depends on the engine. The 4 cylinder engine uses a timing chain, and is generally replaced every 150,000 miles (Honda doesn't give a specific interval) with the water pump (driven off of the timing chain) and timing gears. On the V6 engine, you have a regular rubber/steel belt, and it is supposed to be replaced every 105,000 miles, according to Honda. The water pump is driven off the belt as well, and should be inspected or replaced. (I recommend replacing the water pump anyway, just to save yourself any future trouble)
