Question about 1990 Nissan 300ZX
300ZX wont start, Check battery, starter, fuses and relays, spark plugs, all seem to be working fine....Secuirty light keeps flashing on and off even when i shut the door. i tried resetting it or make it go off but no luck. car wont crank or start, only the dash lights come on and headlights etc. This happen one day and i was stranded, i tried tapping on the starter while someone tried cranking it and it worked but dont know it was just a coincidence. when i got home it didnt want to turn off when i tuned the key to turn off the car. i believe im getting fuel cuz i can smell gas just not spark..... Please help pretty stumped on it. thanks....
The car seems to have functioning parts but it is probably a wiring issue - have you done a heater core replacement or anything under the dash/hood in a while (other than "tapping on the starter" <-- which you shouldnt do by the way)
what year is it??
if it is a 1990 the car has a plug undone under the driver side steering column on the "security" and "ignition" wiring circuit - read your FSM (factory service manual) and diagnose the problem. it is definately a short somewhere!
