2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee Ltd transfer case whine

Hi,
I have a whining noise in the transfer case of my jeep. I only hear it up to about 25mph then after that i do not hear it. My jeep dealer told me that it is a normal whine and they came from the factory with that whine in the transfer case. Is this true?

Yes low speed whine noise from the center of he vehicle is completely normal every one with the same drive train as your does it. as for jestan flushing the oil will not correct any problems that already exist but it is a good idea to prevent problems from happening

Motorway whine in my 1997 Jeep grand

The noise you are hearing may be caused by a loose or worn serpentine belt and is slipping during all engine speeds while under load. It could also be a worn serpentine idler pulley that has worn out. These are just two areas for you to consider, but it is hard for me to tell without actually hearing the noise. Take the vehicle to an autoparts store and have someone check these engine components for a possible cause. They won't charge you anything.

The 4 wheel drive on my 2000 jeep grand cherokee

The ticking noise is most likely your tranfer case chain. the chains in this case...overtime....will stretch, causing the chain to have enough slack the hit the bottom of the case.

Transfer case whining at all speeds

Check the fluid level in there. If it was low for an extended period, change fluid. Whining is often caused by low fluid level, but is also a symptom of internal wear. If fluid change does not help, it needs to be rebuilt or replaced.
