SOURCE: warning lights come on and the car goes to limp

Are you loosing coolant? if so check for leaks. If you have lost a lot of coolant and then topped up your system it may be that you have an airlock, fill your system (when cold) and vent air out of the top engine water pipes, then warm engine up and check levels. Air locks can be indicated by the heater not blowing hot or the top of the radiator remains cool when engine has heated up. Also check the action of your thermostat. hope this helps - good luck.

SOURCE: Engine light continues to come

Hi Caes431,
It would not be enough just to have the codes cleared. Whatever caused the warning to come on the first time, must be attended to and rectified. As the warning is still coming on it means the reason has not yet been attended to.
The vibration as you've described it may be caused by the same problem, as it would seem to be coming from rough engine performance and could be related to the emission control.
The jolt you're experiencing would seem to be something to do with the brakes....I would suggest that further investigation is required with particular attention paid to the fitting of the calipers.

Try running a good fuel system cleaner through it. LOTS of questionable fuel going around these days. Consider running cleaner every other month to keep system clean.

Intermittant engine management light comes on after approx 250 miles when checked at dealers no fault showing but lambda sensor triggered warning now getting no abs or slip contol warnings on dash could...

abs problem will be a wheel sensor. if speedo working its not the pass side one. now for the lambda sensor. if you are traveling at 70 mph for 250 miles at a time this will over heat the sensor over time. as its a 2007 and normal running over time to replace them is 10 years. most that do over 500 miles a day would need to change them with in 2 to 3 years.

Engine malfunction indicator light

Hi Sarah This is a difficult one nothing springs to mind. I would assume if this fault has been apparent for so long it must be very intermittent. The engine light must give a clue, has the dealer not said what codes are being stored. Have you left your car with a dealer to test over a period of days? How often does it happen ? if once a week you really need to leave the car for to weeks. You can ask the Dealer what the cost would be for diagnosis only. Possible faults Plug at coil pack, ecu. Maf sensor, if auto selector module on top of trans. These are only options that come to mind. But only a dealer can confirm any of them, as a diagnostic computer is required. Good luck

Have a 2002 camry check engine light has been on for years. had the catalyst convertor replace 2years ago. still did not fix the problem. have been told that when it was put in that the system needed to...

if you have had a fault with the oxygen sensors for a long time it is possible it has fouled up the catalytic converter.

if the engine check light is the one for routine service and oil change and there is no other fault, it may be possible to reset it yourself.

1. turn ignition key to ACC or LOCK position

2. ensure the odometer is shown and not the trip meters

3. press and hold the trip meter reset button

4. while holding the reset button, turn the key to ON position

5. keep holding the reset button for at least 5 seconds. the odometer will read "000000"
and the light should go off.

if it does not go off then the system will need to be remapped, possible after a new catalytic converter.

try the reset sequence first though

On my Toyota Sienna 2008, my check engine light, Trac Off and VSC lights are one. Why? How do I fix it?

On most Toyota's that are equipped with Cruise Control (Vehicle Speed Control or "VSC") and with Traction Control System (TCS or "Trac") all of these lights will come on at the same time if the Engine Control Module (ECM) determines that there is a fault in the engine management system that 1. Prevents the engine from being properly controlled. 2. Prevents the VSC from being properly controlled 3. Prevents the TCS from being properly controlled 4. Any combination of items 1,2, and 3.
Most of the time it is caused by a single fault in the engine management system. Fault codes are codes that are output by the ECM to let a diagnostician know which of the many systems, that are monitored by the ECM, is malfunctioning. To find out what the actual cause is, you must scan the ECM for fault codes then use this information to begin diagnosis of the system that the fault codes point to.

Rover 25 wont start with key, makes fast clicking noise , engine management light illuminated, will start when jumped

If it's charging properly, and the cables are clean and tight, your problem is likely the battery, which i am assuming is 5 years old now. If it's not charging 14 amps, then it's the alternater.

I was told the air mass meter needed replacing as

the fault needs to be cleared and a short drive to adapt the throttle but if your engine management light was on i used to work for volvo as a technician(master) this is usually caused by the throttle which would honestly need to be done by someone at a dealer or with the equipment to download software to the throttle the throttle needs cleaned and there is a software update from volvo the crankcase vent willneed cleaned allthe way fron the vent box to the intake then you should have an engine flush and use syntheti oil this prevents the same issue with the throttle returning

Check engine light comes on after last 3 visits to the dealer.

I'm not questioning the integrity of your dealer, but why not get a second opinion? I would take the car to an autoparts store and have them read the codes stored in the computer. Most parts stores will do the scan for free and will reset the check engine light if there are no faults noted. See what fault codes their scan comes up with based on the dealer findings. There's no such thing as too much information. Hope this helped and best wishes.
