P0304 cylinder 4 misfire

1999 Oldsmobile Silhouette engine started sputtering and the service engine soon light started flashing. I took it to autozone and they read the code, a p0304 cylinder 4 misfire. I replaced the cylinder 4 spark plug, swapped plug wires and swapped coils and still same issue. What else can cause this problem? It had run fine just an hour before this happened.

    I had them test the coils for 4 and 1 and they said they were fine, that is why I swapped them with the one next to 4 and 1. It still read cylinder 4 misfire after resetting the codes. If it is a fuel injector isn't that an expensive fix? I am a single mom that just got laid off, doing all this myself.

    I had the same problem - it was coolant in the cylinder - we had to replace the engine. Could be head gasket or intake manafold. we didn't know until it was too late.
    good luck - we've had major problems since. Can't wait to get rid of it.

check that your spark plug wires are all secured tight. the far right cylinder is giving you the issue, cylinder #4. Is the engine light flashing while the car is running? if it isnt flashing, then its a past code and isnt misfiring anymore. if the engine light is flashing, you either have a bad plug wire, or a bad ignition coil/distributor.

P0304 is engine misfire #4 cylinder Several things can cause a misfire #1 electrical which you have covered #2 Mechanical Test engine compression is should be around 150 cranking and 120 running . internal valve train components can cause bad compression and the valves then self. #3 fuel injector can be the cause suggest swapping with a know good cylinder and see if misfire follows injector.

Code po304 car wont start
cylinder 4 misfire ,now if this is a GM product then i think you may need a reconditioned ECU init as if this is the 4 cyl engine and its same as the opel astra and zafiro and the vectra then its a common fault with a 2000 to 2004/5 model the computer is bolted to the engine inlet manifold and very weak and susceptable

A P0304 OBD2 code is "cylinder #4 misfire detected". The first place to start is your spark plugs. 1. Check condition and for wear. 2. check the spark plug wires or coil packs(depending on which you have).
