I just recharged my ac and as soon as the pressure got close to where it needed to be it started doing this weird thing where the pressure would fall suddenly and then rise back up to where it needed to be and then fall over and over again. I can see this on the gauge I was using to recharge and my tachometer keeps rising and falling at the same time when the car is in idle My ac never got cold after letting it idle for a few minuets. If I turn off my ac the car idles normally.

The largest diameter line is the suction which is low. The small one that runs to a coil by radiator is high pressure. If there is no cooling then you may have air in the system which means a leak must be fixed first. Are you sure the compressor is engaging? You should hear it click and the engine bog down a little.
SOURCE: what is the ac pressure
1) You must be certain that there is no air in the A/C system a shop will always create a vacumn in the system by pumping out all of the freon. If you feel that you are certain your system hasn't leaked all of it's freon out and you can match the type of coolant then proceed otherwise have it done by a shop.
2) Check the A/C Compressor wiring connector and the A/C Pressure switch connector. Look for damage and make sure they're plugged in firmly. Also check all the fuses. Double check them if you have to.
3) Pick up an A/C pressure gauge (maybe even a cheap A/C Refill kit)
4) Test the A/C pressure at the low-pressure service port with the engine turned off. The pressure should be approximately the same as the outdoor ambient temperatre. If it's 80 Degrees Fahrenheit outside it should be somewhere in the 80PSI range. If it's higher (like 110-120 PSI) don't worry too much.
5) If the pressure is very low (or non existant), Turn the truck on, turn the A/C to MAX, temp all the way cold, and blower fan all the way to 4, then start adding refrigerant. Check the pressure frequently, and don't exceed 90 PSI or so though. Eventually the A/C compressor should kick on. If it does not, then stop filling, and shut off the truck. Listen for hissing refrigerant leaks, or visually inspect the lines and compressor for leaks. They can be hard to troubleshoot
SOURCE: where is the low pressure ac recharge port?
It is on the accumulator inside the right front fenderwell.
SOURCE: where is the ac low pressure port to recharge the
It is on or near the reciever dryer or shiny looking thing at the right rear of the engine compartment. You need gauges to correctly add refigerant as you can overcharge it.
SOURCE: cant find low pressure valve to add freon
follow the larger ac line of the to sizes until u come to a port it is the low side ,is the smaller port this is what u want
