You need to have an OBII scan (fault scan) done by a dealer or a specialty shop. It'll pull up faults and point you at what needs to be addressed. The battery location for a 2005 BMW 545i is in the trunk. Open your trunk, and on the right side of the car (passenger), look for two black plastic screws (flathead fit) along the paneling. Use a flathead (from the tool kit amongst the trunk lid), or a paper-clip to turn both of these plastic screws 90 degrees, you should be able to pull these out with your fingers afterwards. The plastic screws hold in the protective paneling, you'll have to to lift up trunk-liner (covers your spare tire), then pull the paneling outwards; underneath, you'll find the battery and terminals.
