Seen this "mystery drain" many times. Check spark at the battery to see how big the drain is. For this simple test, blow away any (explosive) battery charging fumes. Leave one terminal on and gently touch the other to its post in fairly dark surroundings. Then try it again with the wires taken off the alternator. Your spark is now probably much less. Usually bad diodes leaking electricity backwards through the alternator cause this drain. Replace the alternator or the diode pack inside it. Some mechanics recommend actually measuring the drain.... hahaha. OK whatever.

Have a 2009 Saab 9.7x4,2i starter good alternater good but battery dies over night

Usual culprit is boot (Trunk) light. If not, try disconnecting battery and if a spark jumps as you take the lead off it shows there is a power drain. If no power drain it points to a faulty battery.

Can a new car radio kill the battery?

Yes and that was due to bad installation. I have had 3 car stereos installed on my 98 RAV4 through Best Buy and never had battery problems. I even had 2 amps installed as well but the installers had to make me buy this 200-dollar thing that would not drain the battery.

If you are getting a drain through the radio's power supply it could eventually drain down the battery if it was improperly installed, I would pull the fuse for the radio and see if the drain continues, if the drain does not stop there is another short somewhere. To learn more :
