Hyundai 2001 elantra brake light weirdness

A few months ago I noticed my wife's right brake light is out. So I get my toolbox and undo the 3 screws behind the cloth trunk panel and pull out the assembly. I remove the bulb, filament looks fine so I put it back ask her to sptep on brake and lo and behold it illuminates! I put the taillight assembly pack together and forget about it for a while. Same thing happened this week, I start taking things apart to replace the bulb again and then bulb starts working again so I put everything back. Now this morning the brake light is "out" again. Is it a bad switch? I didn't see anything wrong with any wires when I had it taken apart. What do I look for besides shorted wires?

Hi joe its going to be that socket that has poor contact. It will more than likley need a the socket but try this first. unhook the battery, just so you dont blow the fuse. then remove the bulb look in the socket theres going to be 2 copper looking metal contacts bend them up alittle. this will take away the poor contact if thay are not cracked. If they are cracked you will have to get a socket.

Airbag light

I also have a 2001 Hyundai Elantra.
Awhile back (about 3 years ago maybe) I got a recall letter in the mail saying there was a problem with the airbag if any liquid was spilled in the area around the e-brake. I never did go in and get it fixed. then last year after spilling coffe all over the ebrake handle my airbag light came on. Not sure if it means it is defective or it just need to be checked.

I have a Hyundai Elantra 2001. The low fuel light came on and won't go off even though the car if full of gas.

If gauge still shows empty and light is on then inside tank there is a arm thats prob just stuck remove lower rear seat and will see entry to tank gauge has about 3 to 4 screws open and check if arm is down or floating .

01 Hyundai Elantra - Cruise Control Doesn't Work w/ Headlights On

I had same problem (cruise control/dashboard lights) for the past month with my 2000 Elantra. Replace the tail lights bulbs - my problem was caused by a problem with the double filament within the bulb. Essententially, there was a short when I turned on the lights or hit the brakes.

I did this last night and everything is working properly now.

The rear brake lights on my 2001 Hyundai Elantra won't turn off

There's a small rubber pad which sits on the brake pedal arm, and holds the brake light switch OFF when the pedal is released. When this rubber pad falls off, the brake light switch is on all the time, not just when the pedal is pressed down. Find the rubber pad, and glue it back on, or make a replacement from cardboard, duct tape, whatever.

Both of my headlights burned out about the same time a year and a half ago. I then replaced a few months ago, now the other one blew. It seems that these two lights both burned out too soon. Possible...

I've got a 2001 Elantra that "eats" headlights. Within the last five years, I've probably replaced both headlights 10-15 times. Last time I bought bulbs, the clerk at the Auto Zone recommended coating the connection points of the bulbs in electrical grease (which is different than regular grease). It's usually sold in small foil packages at the check-outs. Anyway, this seemed to prolong the life of the bulbs by 3-4 times. It's a cheap fix that didn't completely solved the problem, but sure cut down on the number of bulb replacements.
