1989 VW Golf wont's start. Coil loses power, no spark

I bought a 1989 1.8 VW Golf. We replaced the starter, the coil, the engin control module, the distrubutor, spark plugs and new bougie cords. Nothing. My car just swings, it won't spark. When tested there is no spark. We tested the coil. When the car isn't on it gives out 12V but the minute you try to start the car it goes down to between 0 - 6V. We think the previous owner had a immobilizer in that he just took out (not in the right way). I don't know where to look for answers anymore and I surely don't have the money for rewiring of my whole car.

You are describing a bad ignition switch. These fail in such a way that the voltage to the ignition fails while in the crank position.

Usually the ignition controll module or pickup coil. Your local auto parts store should be able to test the module for you.

SOURCE: i have checked the coil

Do you have fuel? If so then it's probably a bad airflow meter.

Starter turns motor but wont start

The 1989 model is wired differently from the 1990 model. So this is for the 89 model only.
You should have about 10 volts to the coil from a ballast resistor which gets power from the key switch. The ground side of the coil is handled by the distributor.
Is the coil getting power from the key switch ?

1989 f-250 5.0 engine cranks but won't start

  1. The ignition system on your 5.0L uses a distributor type system and will include the following components:
    1. Ignition control module (ICM). Depending on the year of your specific Ford, it'll have a inner-fender mounted ignition control module or a distributor mounted ignition control module. hot sure which you have.
    2. Ignition coil. you replaced it.
    3. PIP (Profile Ignition Pickup) sensor. This is Ford's name for the crank sensor and is mounted inside the distributor. The most common name for this component is the pick up coil.
    4. Distributor cap and rotor. you replaced
    5. Spark plug wires. you replaced.
  2. The thing to keep in mind about the ignition system is that all engine cylinders must get spark and the one thing that will stop the ignition system from creating spark on a wholesale scale is a BAD crank sensor.Have you pulled a plug then using some insulated pliers grounded it to the vehicle and turned it over to see if you have spark, that'll tell you alot.takes two people of course.Best of luck and hope this helps.

89 gmc k1500 stops and wont start

You could have weak engine control module or a pick-up coil. Have your module tested first.

The engine is cranking but won't start at al I

Seems like a fuel pressure issue or a spark missfire, check the fuel pump and filter, also check the spark plugs and leads to make sure everything is ok. also could be an injector issue.

Pu t in new coil and distrubtor cap and rotor put in new electronic module not firing wont start

No spark at the spark plug? It may be the pick-up coil inside the distributor. This is the sensor that tells the computer the engine's crank position.
If the ignition switch is good, you should have power at the coil's + terminal when key is on. You might check for that.
