GM DELCO THEFTLOCK RADIO UNLOCK CODE:
1. Press and hold presets 2 and 3 for about 5 to 10 seconds until you
get 3 digits on your display. This is the first 3 of 6 digits you will
need, so write 'em down.
2. After doing step one and writing down the code, immediately press
the
AM/FM button to get the last 3 of the 6 numbers you'll need, and write
'em down. (if you wait too long between steps 1 and 2 and the LOC code
displays again, just start over).
3. Call this number, it's a prerecorded message, so don't worry about
having to talk to anyone...1-800-537-5140. The voice will ask if
you're
calling for Chevy, Pontiac, Cadillac, etc... When you here him tell
you
to press "2" for Pontiac, press 206010 and hit the # key. He'll ask
you
for the 6 digit code that you've written down. Enter that and press
the
* key. He will then give you a code, and the option to get additional
4
digit codes, but one should be sufficient.
4. Follow the normal procedure in your owners manual for unlocking the
radio with your new code...press the hour set button on your radio
until
you get the first two numbers of the code, then press the minute set
button until you've entered the last two numbers. Immediately press
the
AM/FM button once the correct code is entered and the code SEC or
"secured" will be displayed on the display screen. Now, just turn the
radio on, and your ready to roll.
There is an additional step you can take to remove all codes from the
radio and start from scratch by entering your own personalized 4 digit
code so that it won't get you in a pickle again! Just repeat step 4
and
you should get a display screen that reads ---. This means the code is
out, and you can now program your own code. Of course, once you
receive
the 4 digit code from the GM recorded message, just keep it in a safe
place, because you can use that same code again and again should you
have any more problems with it in the future. Good luck, and yes, it
does work.

The only way to unlock the radio is by using a scan tool. The scan tool sends the appropriate diagnostic message (relearn VIN) to reset the radio. SOURCE: radio is locked on chevy cavalier

I replaced the radio on a similar car with an identical junk-yard radio/cd player. of course it was locked. I went to the dealership and they were nice enough to plug a hand-held computer under the dash and unlocked it for free. Took about 5 min. Hope this helps.

My 2004 Honda Accord V6 will not start. The security system indicator is flashing.

Hi there:

If it is a factory security system there is no unlock code. They either need to get a new battey or a jump, they can unlock the car with the key.

When they jump it if the horn starts to honk they can lock and unlock the drivers door with the key to turn the alarm off.

When they do get going the radio will be displaying code. If they do not have the code with them I may be able to help if Honda's site is up for codes today. Here is how they can get the serial number needed from the radio assuming it does not have navigation:

I NEED TO UNLOCK MY STERO IN A 2004 TAHOE

There is no actual "security code" in the radio as in past model years. The newer theft deterrent system utilizes the class 2 serial data to determine if the radio is in the appropriate vehicle...in other words it compares the VIN it has stored in it's memory with the VIN of the other modules (body control and PCM) in the vehicle to "check" to see that it's in the correct vehicle.

Each time the radio receives the "run" power mode message, it compares the VIN information it has stored to the VIN information received from a module on the class 2 serial data circuit responsible for transmitting that information. If a mis-match occurs, the radio display will indicate to the user the radio is locked. Once this takes place the radio will not respond to any buttons/commands and becomes inoperative. But the dealer can reestablish the radio into a different vehicle with a scanner.

There are 2 types of GM Theftlock, Theftlock I and Theftlock II. The Theftlock I is found in pre 2000 vehicles, and Theftlock II is in the later models.

Theftlock I - Uses a volatile user settable code that is input through the key pad on the front of the Radio. If the power is lost (dead battery etc.) the code is gone and must be re-entered for the radio to work. But with the correct procedure the owner can unlock it.

Theftlock II - Uses an EPROM (erasable/programmable read only memory) or a PROM (the difference is you can not alter the prom once it is programmed).

In either case the code is burned in and holds even when the power is lost. With Theftlock II the radio is married to the vehicle by way of the VIN. When the vehicle is started the computer compares the number in the radio with the VIN in the body control module. If they match, the radio works, if not the radio displays LOC and you are finished, there is no easy way around it. The radio will not work until you make a trip to the dealer.

The dealer will use a TECH 2 scanner to change the VIN stored in the radio. The radio does not need to be removed (for the serial number or any other nonsense). The technician just plugs into the computer and resets the VIN in the radio.

Thank you for using fixya and good luck. you might get luck by removing the fuse toy our radio for 5 min and reinstalling it, this will reset the radio to default and all you need to do is reset the clock and radio presets.

Had dead battery in 2002 honda civic got jump now word CODE in radio display

try disconecting the positive terminal of the batery for sevral minets (5-10) this will reset the brain box memory for the stero aswell as for the car it self.

what caused the batery to go dead in the first place?
things that i can think of :
1) left headlights on over night
2) bad altenator not charging batery
3) battery is old and not taking a charge anymore
4) new stero installed incorectly and drainging the batery
have you resently installed a new stero or amplifyer?
is the turn key igntion system hooked into the amp/stero antena lead so that thy are shut of when the ignition is?
of note: new streo >theres a blue wire marked ant that goes to the amplifyer if not there you need to find the orange accsesory wire coming from the turn key igntion>check for power when ignition is in the on & off states could be yellow in some cars but is usaly orange if this wire has on and of state controled by the turn key igntion this would be the wire to tap into for the amplyfire and the radio main power
check your radio's instaltion guide for code errors
its posible that when hooking up the jump it was done incorectly and blew up the radio
ie postive and negative where fliped
hope this helped :)

My 2004 cavalier stereo is locked.i put a

That's the anti theft lock... It's not a system that comes with every car radio, but i've saw a few of those on cavaliers and sunfires, and a few civics, and i think a couple others have some too, but i've only personnally seen and worked with the ones i mentioned. In any case, unfortunetly even if i know how they work, there is no easy way to get them unlocked and working again. You need the special code for that specific radio, and to get it you don't have the choice to go to you GM dealer and ask them to do it. You need their special machines to get the codes and get the radio unlocked, there is no other way other than changing it for an aftermarket radio again like before. So if you really want to get the OEM radio going again, go with the car to your GM dealer to prove to them it's not stolen and they will get the codes from the GM support center with their dealer code and will unlock your radio, but of course they will charge for it, dealers never give any gifts to anyone.:p So ask them how much they charge for the service, cause in some cases, buying an aftermarket radio will cost less.
