Why wont my 2005 kia Rio start?

your car has an interference engine. that means if the timing belt breaks, the pistons and valves collide. best case you can have new valves put in the head and it will be okay. worst case

I had my head redone on my 2001 kia rio when i got it back the top cam pulleys were off do they go on a certain way

Yes.
You can research the procedure online or get a repair book for replacing the timing belt which you should have already.
You would also need the torque specs for the head bolts.
There is a mark on each cam gear you have to line up when putting the belt on.

Timing Belt Broke approaching stop sign. Would not start could not dianose but mechanic dianosed 2006 KIA Rio @ 90,000 miles.Towed home and plan to do myself. Any particular problems to look forward to . ...

the timing belt is not something easy to do if its your first time because If the timing belt broke that means the Valves are bent by the pistons going up and you will need to check the Valves on the head before you put in any new belt, If not then that car will never run. And I think you will need some help with that kind of job and right tools. Good luck bro

2001 kia reo 4cyl. dohc replaced head gasket and had head re-surfaced put it back together and it acts like there is no compression

Did you recheck the engine valve timing (Timing Belt) after you finished? If so check it again. Timing has to be set on #1 top dead center. You probably know this if you did the head gasket.

Timing belt let go sitting at a idle what damage could it cause

Sadly the Kia Rio is an interference engine, this means probably at the very least you have suffered some valve damage. You may have also damaged the camsaft, pistons, and head. You won't really know until its taken apart.

I need to know how to replace a timing belt for a 2005 kia rio. i lost the manual and i need to know how to time it correctly

The timing is electronic and non adjustable. If you change the belt and don't have it set up (positioned) exactly right , you will cause major engine damage.
Pistons will hit valves and bend them. Don't do your timing belt unless you are experienced at doing that job.

Broken timing belt 2002kia rio are the valves bent?

not always but to be on the safe side take the head off and check if you dont know how to check take the head to a shop get them to look at it.they shouldnt cost you anything if its good buy a cylinder head gasket and put it back on. if they are bad.its cheaper to buy a new head for the car assembled

1998 kia sportage. changed timing belt. now no compression.

WOW - DID THE BELT BREAK WHILE IT WAS RUNNING IF SO THE VALVES ARE BEND THATS WHY YOU HAVE NO COMPRESSION.
IF YOU HAD THE BELT REPLACED AND THEY DON'T HAVE THE TIMING MARKS RIGHT YOU CAN STILL BEND THE VALVES.
9 TIMES OUT OF 10 THE DAMAGE IS JUST TO THE VALVES AND NOT THE HEAD OR ENGINE. BUT IF YOU HAVE TO PULL THE HEAD MY ADVISE IS TO HAVE THE HEAD CHECKED FOR CNY CRACKS

2002 Kia Rio Timing Belt

yes, this is VERY IMPORTANT, this is an interference engine, meaning the valves and the piston cannot be in the same place at the same time,or it will bend the valves.then you are looking at a major repair job, think or it as insurance on your engine. please rate my fix as i strive to be the best, questions, get back to me

Kia Rio died in traffic. Will not start.

Hello Kia Owner,
Regarding the shut down, when was the last time you changed the timing belt?? Did you know that the twin cam 1.5 lirte motor needs a new belt every 50,000 miles or 80,000 kms.
If the belt has failed it may still be in tact but with the cogs ripped off.
Your valves have collided with at least one piston but it is good you were only idling at the time.
The motor may be worth fixing. I just fixed mine myself. I had to lift the engine after removing the axles. I removed the old timing belt and removed and rebuilt the cylinder head(big job). Two exhaust valves were boken right off and lying inside one cylinder.
Most likely your timing belt failed as well.
