Peugeot 406 loses power -1991 PEUGEOT 406 executive; 1997cc

I HAVE A 1991 PEUGEOT 406 executive; 1997cc PETROL; a warning keeps coming on during a journey of 15-20 miles; " Anti-pollution filter " and then the car loses power and this will not clear. if i pull in and turn off the engine and restart it again. it regains power but the alarm stays on, Peugeot Garage couldn't fix,can someone help..

Hi,this failure i just had on a 406.we changed the coil rank.the complet unit for the sparking.

No lights on peugeot 406

If you can flash it should not be a fuse problem, but check the fuse in any case.

You need to get a car tester and test the wirings to understand where the contacts get interrupted.

Start testing from fuse box to switch on instrument panel, if there is no voltage in there, that means that either there is a lose wire/connector, or the light switch on the instrument panel it is bad.

Peugeot 406

Most likely the ECU (Engine Computer Unit) is responding to some duff sensor / loose cable / whatever ..

All modern engines have more sensors than you can shake a stick at, some positioned in the most inaccessible places, that can cause the most obscure problems imaginable (remember the Oxygen Sensor in the Exhaust manifold that was 'poisioned' by some dufff supermarket petrol ??)

It's a Peugeot garage computerised diagnostics job I'm afraid...
