Jag 02 x- type 3.0 amber engine light on, cruise control not avai

And it also jilts sometimes when sitting at a red light in early mornings

    2002 X Type. Engine light contantly on and every now and the a message appears "CRUISE NOT AVAILABLE" When the message appears the car will not go over 3000 revs and judders. I have ben told that the computer needs resetting. Is this true?

If your engine light is on and the cruise control comes on every now and then and your car is not running as it should.Im sure you will need a vaccum hose replaced.Costs about £6 from a jag dealer.Easy to fit and will make the world of difference to performance.No more cruise control messages and after 6-10 starts engine light goes out too.I recently had this problem!

U will need to go to a Kragen or Autozone parts store and have the system tested for trouble code(s), there are well over 100 different code's in the system for failures, the test is free.

What codes do you have?

Get the codes,look them up &
have a repair start over & resolve,
unless you can handle the fix

It is either in fail safe for overheating,ignition misfires
or trans problems

Hello. Jag x-type 2002, 2.5 l. Problem: engine doesn't exceed 3000 rpm. It looks like computer blocks the engine. any ideas?
My car has a similar problem,i read the manual and the car goes to a limp home mode if the computer feels there is something wrong with the car,it happens to mine when the cruise control not available light comes on-it will also not exceed above 70mph when that particular light comes on.I was told my cruise control computer needs changing

When i turn ignition without starting the engine instrument lights come on then go off but engine light glows amber and goes off when the engine is started does that mean there is a problem. it is x type...
If the light stays on when your moving that shows a problem....I think that what your seeing is the computer testing the verious curcuits as its programmed to do

Failsafe engine mode light on. reasons why. xj308 v8 1998
My 1999 Jag XJ8 did the same thing when the cruise control was activated (red button by the gear shift), but I wasn't actually using the cruise control. I deactivated the cruise control and the fail safe message no longer appears.

I have the same problem with the Cruise Control not available coming up but I had a smiliar problem with the ABS and Engine light coming on when battery was pretty much dead, it was hard to steer and brake.. may be something different with your car..
