2004 sierra instrument cluster problems

I removed the old motors from the cluster panel, but when i tried to solder the new motors to the panel the solders beads up and want stick. i've tried everything to try to make it stick. PLEASE HELP! What should i do to make the solder stick.

On a 2004 chevy tahoe. Once the instrument cluster wire clip is detached and new bulbs are soldered on the cluster. Does the instrument cluster have to be reprogrammed ?

Shouldn't need reprogramming. I removed the cluster from my 04 Silverado and sent it in for repair and replacement of the bulbs. It was out of my truck for 2 weeks. When I got it back everything worked just fine, no problems at all.

My speedometor does not reed the proper speed it will reed 100 when you are not moving

The stepper motors on the dash board instrument panel are bad. There was faulty motors and you can buy them on ebay. In order to replace them you have to take the instument panel out, (go to youtube for the video) then you need to unsolder the old motors and solder the new ones in. I had never done something like this and took about an hour to replace two motors one on the gas guage and the other on the speedometer. They take the same stepper motor.

My speedometer on my 2004 chev tahoe reads 120 mph. Sometimes it is less but is never the correct speed I am going. What do I need? A cable or fuse??

First call your dealer. There is a free instrument cluster replacement recall, which may apply for your problem.

Replace spedometer cable 2003 gmc yukon xl

There is no speedometer cable on the 2003 Yukon, if there is no transmission issues like shifting problem. Your instrument cluster has gone bad, to pinpoint. Your stepper motor to your speedometer gauge has failed and needs to be replaced. You can do a search on Ebay for the stepper motor for around $10.00 which is better then the $400.00 cost of another instrument cluster.
There was a TSB on the replacement of the instrument cluster for your Yukon free of charge. The only cost to you is the labor charge unless your willing to do the job your self. Just go to the Gm Dealer and give them this TSB Number: # 07187C: Special Coverage Adjustment - Instrument Panel Cluster Gauge Needle Function - (Mar 20, 2009)

Speedometer doest work how do i fix

You dont have to replace the cluster. Just replace the stepper motors. They are not difficult to do. I replace three of them and all the light bulbs in my 2004 gmc just yesterday ,, It took me three hrs from start to finish. The light bulbs are more difficult to replace than the stepper motors. Stepper motors are available on e bay for 6 bucks.

Speedometer freezes

GM has had a issue with the clusters in the 2003-2005 trucks. The cluster will be replaced for free for your truck if it has less then 70k miles. I would take it to your local dealer and tell them that the voltage gauge sticks at times. They should order one for you, takes 1-2 days and replace it for you at no charge. If this does not fix the problem, you will have a new cluster at no charge.Unless the battery light comes on, the alternator should be good. This is a copy of the GM bulletin.

I have an 03 H2 with a oil pressure gauge pegged all the way to the right and the speedometer is also pegged all the way to the right. They both happened at the same time, so what could have happened?

Need to replace instrument cluster/AC bulbs

Hello, You can obtain a 2004 Ram Factory Service Manual with all of that information available from Promanuals.net. The reason why it may be so important is because right before the removal instructions the service manual has diagnostic instructions to try. There are numerous pages on removing the instrument cluster, and cluster bezel.

(1) Disconnect and isolate the battery negative
cable. (For Airbag)

(2) Remove the cluster bezel from the instrument
panel. (Refer to 23 - BODY/INSTRUMENT PANEL/
CLUSTER BEZEL - REMOVAL).

(3) Remove the four screws that secure the instrument
cluster to the instrument panel structural support
(Fig. 5).

(4) Pull the instrument cluster rearward far
enough to access and disconnect the instrument
panel wire harness connectors for the cluster from
the connector receptacles on the back of the cluster
housing.

(5) Remove the instrument cluster from the instrument
panel.

Where is the fuse location for instrument cluster on my 04 GMC Sierra?

Here you go. Under hood fuse block
Ign. Fuse E
and
ipc/dic
both fuses are 10 amp
