E4od shift problems

I broke down in Mena Ark and had a local guy rebuild my e40d, or that's what he claimed, anyway. Now it slips unless you let off gas on 1st to 2nd transition once in gear, it's fine. Also will not go into overdrive. I would have taken back, but I was 150 miles out when i realized how bad it was. Had been in a motel for a week and a half, and just wanted to get home.

SOURCE: hard shift and blinking overdrive

The blinking overdrive button is telling u that a serious fault has occurred in the electronic controls or a mechanical fault such as excess slippage is occurring.

Sure sounds like the torque converter is bad to me. Usually after the fluid gets hot, this problem shows up. Specially since it's in ALL gears......sorry o;(>

I have a 91 f250 4x4 e40D transmission. Had it rebuild, then slip it in. It shifts 1 to 2 ok. But not shifting to 3rd & fourth

Being a 91, take it back. But this really depends on who you had build it. Shade tree guy, your probably going to eat it. Garage, take it back and make them fix it.

94 F-150 4x4 e4od Strange shifting.

That's what I said about my Mustang Gt when the tranny went out on it, it sat for 5 years until I finally sold it. I started looking for a replacement tranny for it before I decided to sell it and found a few on ebay for a reasonable price Shipped and Guaranteed for around $1500, beats breaking open the old one then sorting through whats good and bad, kits cost $500 alone. Then doing the rebuild and hoping it's all good with no guarantees on if it will or how long it may last. Not to mention the mess and time and frustration of taking on the task. Just removing it will change your mind on doing a rebuild. That always seems to be enough work by it's self, having the other tranny right there to put in will make it a 1 day task. No parts to loose or find out that they don't fit or the case needs to be machined, many things come to mind.

I have a 94 Ford f150 that drives in first but revs high until it hits 2nd gear then drives normal is my tranny slipping

chances are that you have an E4OD transmission. It a good transmission, however it's electronically controlled (the E, in E4OD). What this means is that many things outside of the transmission itself can cause the transmission to act up. First thing's first... ensure that your fluid level is sufficient. Then, click the link below to read the thread about the E4OD diagnosis process. good luck.

Just had both o2 sensors replaced and now the truck won't shift from 2nd to 3rd gear. Evidently it had been slipping a bit before but now it won't shift into 3rd at all. The tranny is an E4OD......

O2 Sensors --- not related to shifting

New transmissions --- are only new once
When installed on the assy line

Has to be rebuilt if necessary

PO 147 ---O2 Sensor Heater (Bank 1 Sensor 3) don't have one of those
PO714 -- Trans Temp Sensor -heat for the slipping
PO 471 --- Exhaust Pressure Sensor -don't have that either

Need a new guy
Not very professional were they

here is possible fix:
ISSUE: Some vehicles may exhibit a shift concern and/or a harsh engagement concern due to water intrusion into the MLP/TR sensor and vehicle harness. There may also be a number of different DTC's along with those concerns.
ACTION: Replace the MLP/TR sensor and vehicle harness connector if signs of water is evident.

95 grand cherokee 4.0 4wd w/ auto trans. starts in 3rd gear, manually shifting to 1st only gives 2nd gear, won't shift down on own, won't go to OD & OD selector button does nothing, no light, no shift,...

it sounds like it is in limp in mode. try disconnecting the battery for ten minutes and reconnecting. this will reset the pcm and clear the fault codes. if it was just some sort of fluke if should be ok, if there is a problem it will return to limp in mode. if it wasn't acting up beforehand, it's more than likely an electrical, or computer problem, not a mechanical issue,
