You have two oxygen sensors but 21 is upstream sensor. This is the sensor between engine and catalytic converter. There is three possible problems that it could be.
1 oxygen sensor input voltage maintained above the normal operating range.
2 no signal at 02 2/1 sensor
3 oxygen sensor input voltage sustained above thenormal operating range. What all this means is you need to replace the sensor.
when getting the replacement this is your O2 2/1 sensor.

SOURCE: P0340 code in my Jeep Liberty 2002

Since a P0340 Could be either the Cam Position Sensor or The Crank Position Sensor they are obviously in 2 different spots, however they both either sit on the back of the engine or on the transmission bellhousing. Your Cam Sensor is at the top and your Crank Sensor is near the bottom.

Hope this gives you some direction. Thanks for using FixYa!

Sincerely,

JC

SOURCE: The computer Code of P0132 has come on

Okay, good, that makes it a bit easier. That code refers to sensor B1S1 or Bank 1, Sensor 1. Bank 1 refers to the side of the motor that has cylinder #1. Since you have an in-line six cylinder, that part is easy since there's only one side. Sensor 1 refers to the sensor before the catalytic converter. Since you have only one bank, and one exhaust pipe, that means its the O2 sensor before the catalytic converter.

You only have two O2 sensors, one before and one after the catalytic converter. Check the wiring and connector on the sensor before the catalytic converter and if all seems good there, then replace the sensor itself and see if that does the trick.

SOURCE: Oxygen Sensor jeep liberty

well first off depending on the year you could have up to four.now the easiest thing is to check trouble codes by turning yor key three times.now move it to the first position it moves to.thats were you need to end at all three times.now from that position you will move it quickly to the position when the accessories and idiot lites lite, right before it hits the starting position.so do that three times and wala if you got a problem with it your gonna know which one of the four you need to replace.follow the imortal saying of if it aint broke dont fix it ,oh ya to locate just look at other answer

Very likely it's the Lambda sensor on the eshaust playing up. Check connections and get it tested.

I KNOW THAT I NEED A O2 OXYGEN SENSOR I DONT KNOW WHICH ONE

As the most common oxygen sensor to fail and it controls the air /fuel mixture , is the heated oxygen sensor in the exhaust manifold before the cat converter
I would be looking at that sensor first
prices range from $20.00 to close to $100.00 depending on the make or if you use after market parts

2014 jeep compass codes po171 and po2173read I changed Oxygen sensor but limp in mode I then changed throtle pedle but limp mode returned how can i fix this ?

code p 0171 refers to system too lean bank 1== causes --intake /exhaust leak---AIR system---MAF/VAF sensor ---fuel pressure/pump--- injectors--- Heated oxygen sensor
by changing the O sensor (oxygen sensor ) you changed the wrong one and so there would be no change to the read out there
code p 2173 refers to throttle actuator control (TAC) system -high air flow detected ===causes --intake system---throttle body
fix the causes and you stand a chance of fixing the problem

Auto zone checked our 2001 jeep grand cherokee laradeo and said the oxygen sensor is going bad. they sold my wife a new one , but how do i no which one to replace with the new one . i check the internet...

If there was a trouble code, the code should tell you which one? bank 1 or bank 2, and or sensor 1 or sensor 2. Bank 1 on a v engine is the bank with number one cylinder. Bank 2 is the other bank. Some sensors are labeled upstream and downstream in relation to the cat, before or after. Upstream is senor 1 and downstream from the cat is sensor 2.
Is it clear as mud?
