Ford Focus 2001 ABS, Traction Control and Emergency Breake lights

Hi! I own a 2001 Ford Focus,Zetec 2.0L, and I'm having a problem. Some times ABS, Traction Control and Emergency Breake lights on the dashboard comes ON and they stay this way until I shut off the engine. When I start the car again, the ligths are OFF. Ford mechanics doesn't know what it is, they reprogramed the ECU once...after that they change the alternator....but every time ,sooner or latter, the failure appears again. :( What can it be??

    Hi Davelee! There are no faults codes when the diagnostic is checked. Only once we found an alternator problem and the piece was changed...but this doesn't solve the warning ligths problem.Thank you for your answer.

    on my ford focus the abs light and traction control light flash on and then the car dies. After sitting for a couple of minutes it will start up and idle for a while and die again. what could the problem be?

    I have a 2001 Ford Focus. Yesterday, I had to go over four speed bumps & all the dash lights went out. I noticed if I step on the break, they all came back on, but when I take my foot off the break, they all go out again

You need to get a diagonstic check as sooon as the light comes on, dont turn ignition off as thi may delete the fault code Good luck Davelee

    They do suffer with dashboard faiure, eratic bulbs and dials etc, possible the fault may lie here, though if i were to test it i would wait till the faul occurs, dont turn ignition off and put on tester if no fault present the recommend trying secondhand dash cluster

Rear brakes locking up when wet. Now abs light and service light and traction control light all coming on abs cutting in quite often even when it's not wet or slippery
Sounds like possibly your emergency brake cable got stuck at one point in time, its probably wearing your brakes down horribly. Also your rear brake calipers may have gone bad and are partially stuck closed.

most likely a wheel sensor concern

if the computer cannot see the wheel speed then you lose ABS and TRACTION control

go to almost any part store and have them pull codes
assuming you have a VSS code, replace the suspected part or continue diagnoses for possible wiring concern

Do you know if the ford focus 2001 (y reg) 1.6 zetec has ABS?
may not all have fitted, but that year not to have is rare, when you turn on ign a ABS light should come on unless someone has hiden it to cover a fault. if you look under bonnet, and find the servo/master clylinder unit (near the brake fluid reservoir) track pipes down a block with several brake pipes running to it then it has , if the brake pipes from the master clyinder run direct to the wheels then you have not,
or find a clear road drive down it then slam brakes on hard if pedal throbs thats abs working

2006 focus ABS and Traction control lights came on
It may have pushed one of you sensor back away from your tone wheel its a common problem,all you have to do is push the sensor back againts your wheel and it will set itself,I hope this helps you and thanks

Warning lights
You need to have your brakes inspected by a professional. The lights indicate that ABS and traction control are not working...although brakes will work without these features, a humming noise can indicate more problems to come.
