New timing belt, oil change, then the car started to overheat,

Drove car 10,000 miles since new trans was put in also new timing belt, all of a sudden low oil light, low oil pressure, the oil pan was REPAIRED,oil was leaking from threads at drain spout. I can only guess, but I think they used silocone. I think the oil pump or screen is bad/blocked, the car has 185,000 miles on it I would like to drop the pan and check it out.any Ideas. Is there any special tools required for pan removal or oil pump removal that I should know about THANKS BRUNO

Thanks anyway, but we removed the oil pan and found the pick up tube was clogged . Apparently there is a plastic splash pan in the oil pan. that plastic pan melted and caused the blocked pick up tube. So , the changing of the oil pick up tube was the answer. I dont think I have ever changed an oil pan as easy as this one. There were 20 or so bolts, but no cross member or any other item in the way. EASY EASY EASY, NO PROBLEM

Pan removal requires hanging the motor with a sling and dropping the subframe ...it's a bear but pump and pan can be removed. silicone clogging the pick-up is common

Overheat engine

The timing belt? Are you sure he didn't say it was the engine belt? If he said timing belt then he's definitely lying to you. If it's the engine belt, then maybe it could be unrelated. Did you check the coolant level? (when the engine is cool). A common mistake is to add coolant when the engine is cold, then not add more when the engine heats up and the thermostat opens.

Service lights

Well, let me just say that if you have gone 10,000 miles without servicing your brand-new Lexus, you are a LOT braver than I would ever be. I certainly do not have the gold available to pay for the possible consequeces of pulling that one off. When was the last time you even checked your engine oil level? I have seen MANY vehicles run completely out of oil between 3000 mile services and completely DESTROY the engines! 10,000 miles is REALLY taking HUGE chances!

You may have 2 separate problems...One for the oil needing service and one for a problem with your AWD system. However, Toyota and Lexus are known for disabling things like AWD, ABS, Traction Control, etc. when the engine computer detects things like low oil pressure or low oil levels. This can cause several warning lamps to all come on at the same time.

GET YOUR VEHICLE SERVICED!!! Hopefully, you will be one of the lucky ones and have not done any serious damage by not getting it serviced when you should have.

Your oil should be changed every 3000 miles (Or every 5000 miles if you are using full-synthetic oil). You should also check the oil level between services AT LEAST every 1000 miles (or more often, if you are having to add oil at 1000 miles). For a properly maintained vehicle, checking the oil level between oil changes SHOULD seem a total waste of time. However, it is the single, MOST IMPORTANT thing you can spend your time on when it comes to getting a lot of miles from your investment. If your engine starts using (burning) oil or if it starts leaking oil, you will not know about it in time to save your engine if you are not in the habit of checking it on a regular basis.

I had to drive through water that was upto the middle of the rim. drove fine for almost 300 miles afterward then all of a sudden it will start and no power on the road. it sounds like chocked when pushing...

you would have first check on your car sparks plugs and the leads wire that could have made your car not to have power, know that when the leads wire get wet then its looses sparks needed by plugs to give out power to the engine. loosing oil comes from the overheating from the engine which can end up burn the cylinder head gasket. so try to change the spark plugs together with its leads and put new engine oil and drive test it.
