This 1997 4 door Camry has water pouring in during a rain shower while parked. It's enough to cause a puddle in the fwd floor passenger area. I have removed the glove box and plastic panels to expose all of the computer boxes and all I found was a few water droplets on some electrical connectors behind a plastic panel below and to the right side of the glove box, just forward of the front door. The water has to be pouring in from somewhere in that area to accumulate so much in the floor. I have tried using a water hose to pour over the seals and still cannot find the leak. It's like a big hole somewhere letting all of this water in, but it only seems to happen when it rains. Can you please help ? I am at my wits end. Thank you for your time.
If your car has a sunroof, there are drains from the front corners of the sunroof, and they drain down the sides of the windshield pillars, and then empty out on the ground.
What I would do is open the surnroof, and pour water into the front corners, and then oobserve where the water drains out. If you have a difference in water drainage between the left and the right sides, I would think that you may have loose sunroof drain. They commonly come loose at the sunroof corners. This will allow the water to pass down the windshield pillar, and onto the floor.
Also, I would check the condensate drain tube for blockage. Pull back the carpet, under the glove box, and fins a black hose that pokes thru the firewall. Pull it out, and see if it is blocked internally. If this tube is clogged, water will build up in the heater box, as the black tube is the drain for the heater box.
One of the two above solutions will cure your problem. I see both quite often.
Thanks for choosing FixYa for assistance.
I have had this problem. I agree with the above solutions. In addition to the tracs or drain tubes from the sunroof as described, and if there is anything in those panels then it just fills up and drains into the floor boards. I had to actually get some long needle nosed type pliers and find those drain tracs with the front doors opened. I removed 100's of pine needles and debris. If I recall I think I found areas with the back doors opened as well. After removing gobs of pine needles I then very very lightly blew air through those drain tracs from the above sunroof. It's been a year and I haven't had any problems. But I think this is something I better check since spring is finally here. Good luck! I hope this helps you. If not then have someone professional blow out the drain tracs and in addition check the sun roof for any leaks.

Yes it does have a sunroof but does not appear to be leaking from overhead. Does the sunroof have a drain from that area ? The leak seems to be centralized around the passenger fwd door post area, but shows no sign of the door seals leaking. Thank you for responding.
I am in GA & right now we are having very heavy rain (up to 13 inches in like 4 days). We have a 2004 Toyota camry & noticed the rear passenger floor was soaked & everything ruined (books) on Tuesday. As of today, we had like 2 inches of standing water in the rear. The front is soaked too, it seems the water is flowing from the front to the back and staying on the back. We have had 2 friends who are mechanics look at it (in the rain) & they can't figure it out. We are taking it to the dealership tomorrow. Seals are fine, too. No water anywhere, but the passenger floor. Happens when sitting.
My driver side floor has a puddle after prolonged rain. Water runs out from behind kick panel. How do I find and clean the suspected drain lines from the sunroof?
