O2 sensor wat does a 02 sensor do

There should be just 2 02 sensors on your car an upstream and a downstream

Usually these are located on the exhaust manifold or just below the exhaust manifold and you should be able to see it in the engine bay. On V6 engines there will be one sensor on each of the 2 exhaust banks.
You will probably need to remove the engine cover to see the sensors on your exhaust.

If someone told you to replace these because you got a particular fault code I would be wary. A decent scan tool and basic diagnostics can show if the 02 sensor is working or not. Some faults often blamed on an 02 sensor are not due to faulty sensors.

no, o2 senser has nothing to do with your car over heating. thats either your radiator,water pump, cooling fans, heater core, or thermostat. hope this helps u :)

if the 02 sensor is unplugged and you are reading a scan tool from the diagnostic link then of course the 02 reading is wrong
if you are using a volt meter right at the connector thats on the sensor then the 02 will read lean because the heating elements in it are disconnected when you unplug it
check 02 voltage with engine warmed up and 02 sensor connected you will have to pierce insulation with your probe

Probably not. The California car is all together different. Usre the Cal, O2 Sensor.

This sounds like an O2 sensor, there are 4 O2 sensors, 2 for each bank, 2 up stream by the exhaust manifold and 2 down stream by the catalytic converter. However the information you have given is limited, the explanation for the code seems to be missing some information. Ex: right bank sensor 1 to lean.
