Maintenance Required light

We had the oil changed recently and had the light reset, it went away for about a week and now it's back on. We bought this car from my 82 yr old grandfather(who always takes excellent care of his cars) and he had a piece of black tape covering it. I'm guessing this was an ongoing problem, any info would be appreciated!

You need to plug an OBDII scanner into the vehicle's port for the scanner. It will give you the various codes, which you can look up online for your vehicle. Some auto parts stores, (Auto Zone) do this for free so you do not have to buy a $250.00 scanner.

I could not find a code for the neutral switch . The neutral safety switch only works when you start the vehicle, so it will not start in gear. I would take the car to another shop for a second opinion.

Here is an idea. Check the connections between the battery and the car's ground and the starter. Then find the ground cable which connects the engine to the car and check the connections there as well. Often times odd ball electrical problems are caused by a faulty ground, especially when there is a starter issue. May help, costs nothing but a few moments of your time, and once in a dozen times it is the problem.

2006 Toyota Corolla le - maintenance light on front panel - engine serviced with oil and air filter changed two months ago. All liquids fine, car working well...what might it be??

  • That light is an indicator that the required miles have been drove and it's time to do an oil change. The light should be reset after every oil change as the computer keeps track of the miles to warn you when it's time again should you forget.

  • If you want to turn the light off then follow these steps.

  • Push and hold the trip button and then turn the ignition to on while holding the trip reset button. Keep holding for 10 seconds and the maintenance required light will go offf.

How do i reset low tire indicator on rav 4 2010, i just changed tire

The TPMS lamp should go out when the proper air pressure in all tires is detected. Too much pressure will cause it to light also. The low threshold is somewhere in the 24-27lb range, dunno what the upper limit is, but one member at R4W had 44lbs, IIRC, and the lamp wouldn't go out until he dropped it back down. Some members run 38lbs and get away with it, but I run the recommended 32lbs and don't have any problems. Out of spec tire pressure does not cause the maintenance required lamp or the MIL to light up, see page 161 of the owner's manual. The maintenance required lamp will light up every 5000 miles as a reminder to change the engine oil, see page 136 of the manual for reset instructions.

I recently changed the oil in my 2010 toyota yaris and the maintenance required light is still on .what do i need to do to put it off.

The "Maintenance Light" comes on after your car has reached the required service miles in the book. When the dealer finishes the oil change or whatever the service is, they should have reset it. If it doesn't bother you you don't really need to turn it off.

If you want to turn it off. On some cars it's a small push button under the dash by the drivers left knee.

Not shur where it is in your car tho.

Hope this helps

Maintenance Required Soon light came on. What does this mean? I just had my vehicle taken in for an oil change last week and everything was in great condition.

"Maintenance Required" is an automatic indicator which runs on your mileage. Once serviced the counters need to be reset. It could be that when you had the oil change the service centre did not reset the computer (they forgot, ps. this is not somethuing you can DIY) or you did not take it to a Toyota service centre, in which case they did not have the electronic gadget needed to do the reset. Get it back to Toyota or at least someone who can do the reset.

The maintenance required light is on in my 2005 toyota corolla S, what does this mean?

It means you need to get your oil changed, or they didn't reset it after your last oil change.

Maintenance required light is on in my 2008 Toyota Camry

You can take it back and have them reset the light that they for got to do. Or check your manual and do it your self. I think you push the trip setter and hold it until the dashes disappear. Or go to trip a and then push and hold.

How can the maintenance required light be reset following an oil change?

Here's how you reset your oil maintenance light.

To reset the light,
Turn the ignition on
Make sure the odometer displays "ODO"
1.Turn the key off
2.Press and hold down the same button you use to get to "ODO"
3.Turn the key back to ON ( while still holding down the button)
4.Hold the button in until all the flashing lines on the odometer go away and the bunch of "000000" shows up and the maint reset light will turn off.
Your'e done.

If this doesn't work, you would have to try it on "trip A" instead of "ODO".

Maintenance Required light came and flashed a few times, then went off. Don't have a manual, what needs to be done?

Change your oil, and reset the light. With the ignition off, hold down your trip reset button, turn the ignition on, car off, until the maintenance light blinks, then it is reset.
