About six months after getting a new computer brain put into the car, i lost my air conditioner's ability to cool. The freon leaks out and i double checked and tightened everything from a visible standpoint. I refill my car with freon and every 2 weeks just about I refill the car with freon. It cost 3 dollars to refill and about 72-80 dollars a year.
Is there any areas that are completely obscure that could be possibly lose? Is there any place i should look for cracks. If i took the car in for an air conditioner repair, how much would the estimate cost be?
Any other solutions possible?
Its the only thing not working in my car.
Take it to Midas,I use them, great price, when they put Freon in,it has a green dye in it so if it leaks they can see and repair it.
Try putting in a.c. leak detector first to pinpoint where the leak is coming from...That can be a costly repair if you take it to a shop especially if you can't find the leak yourself !! Well best of luck..hope this was helpful

A clogged evaporator is something extremely rare, i never encountered in all my years. Actually the first thing that they should check is the pressure given by the compressor when it's supposed to be activated. If no pressure difference (compared with the compressor disconnected) is detected then either the compressor they have just installed is defective or the start command that is sent to it from the climate control module is missing. They will have to dismantle a much smaller section from the dash to access and fully test it. That will take about 3 hours.
The cost depends entirely on what is the hourly rate in the shop you are using: in a dealer it's usually about $125, at your local shop about $75.
