1994 BMW 318i A/C inop after jump start (& in dash computer dead)

A/C is inop after neighbor jump started my car for my wife (I was gone to Ft Benning for a week). At first all I noticed was on board in dash computer was dead. Then however when we needed A/C, the A/C will also not come on. Ran a jump wire from the battery to the compressor and the compressor runs fine when I do this... and blows cold air. The "light" on the dash button will not turn on for the A/C when it is pushed... and the A/C will not come on when the button is pushed. Does this have anything to do with the blown in-dash computer (you know, the one that shows the "temp" and other things, next to the digital clock)? Or should I look elsewhere? Thanks...

    Hi bunnydawg...

I tried the a/c relay already. That was not it. Also Re: fuses in engine compartment... none blown. Will look in trunk. Thanks, Dave

Look for the a/c relay located (likely) in the fuse panel in the engine compartment near the battery. if it's not there let me know and i'll find out which relay it is. incidentally there may be fuses blown as well and replacing them may bring back your dash computer as well... i believe there are also fuses/relays located in the trunk as well on BMW's.

BMW 318i SE Airbag light

something in the airbag system is at fault. it could be the airbag(s) itself or any of the sensors that detect a crash to deploy the airbag. i would really take it into BMW and have it checked & repaired. the airbag(s) will not deploy with this light on so your safety is at risk if you are ever in an accident..

BMW 318i wont start engine

I would have the battery tested. When they get cold they get weak. Next I would look at the wires on the starter to see if their loose.
