I own a 1994 Jeep Cherokee. The problem with it is that when you turn it over it wont start until you give it ''wide open' throttle. The fuel pressure is fine (35 psi) and the ignition is working fine too.You can hold down the throttle before you start it and then turn it over it will start fine.
Thanks
Wade

I had a shifting problem. The car would start in the wrong gear and shift at wrong times. I repaced the governor postion sensor and tranny fluid and the problem has been fixed for several years. Did you replace the tranny fluid?

open your owners manual. if you havent already and see if there is a reset proceedure if so and light is still on go to a firestone or dealer and see if you may have a faulty tpms (tire pressure monitor system). or you may just need there tool to reset light. and yes it might cost you somthing to do it.

It is likely one of your battery cables loose. Same thing just happened to me today. What you need to do is first lock the doors, and close them. Then you need to disconnect, and reconnect the battery cable, then if the security lights still blink you must use your key to unlock the door, then it should stop blinking, and start just fine.

It is a 4.0. It wont start at all if you dont hold the gas down. The fuel pressure is fine but what is odd about it is that it will start fine with wide open throttle.
It does not have a problem going up a hill. My dad is an ase certified mechanic for 22 yrs. At first we belived it was the fuel pump but the pressure was fine. We even checked the distributer like you did and that didnt fix it. Thanks for the help tho.
The vehicle runs perfectly fine. IT ONLY HAS A HARD START.
We believe now that it is the Intake Coolant Temperature Censer. We ran a computer diagonstics on it and it came up with a code 17 which is the Censor.
So it worked for you no problem then i need to try that out.
to be honest with you we are still looking for the solution, We now believe that it is something to do with the coils when it first starts up. There is a resistor that cuts down the volts from the battery from 12 to 6. We think its something to do with that. Like not getting enough spark to start it or something.
Thanks alot for you help sorry about the wait.
