I started my van a few days ago and the Check Engine light was on. we drove up the canyon went skiing all day and then came home. As we got close to home the car just died. we towed it back home and just as we go home I tried to start the van and it started right up. After parking the van in my normal spot I tried to restart it agAin and nothing. WHAT DOES NOTHING MEAN. STARTER MOTOR DEAD?????? I have tried replacing the ignition switch but that wasn't it. I checked the starter( brand new 4 months ago) and it seams to be fine. I don't have any blown fuses. I am wondering if a relay is bad or if a sensor is out???? HELP!
I had similar problem with Durango and replaced the "brain" with a refurbished PCM -- google for reburbished PCMs and call the Florida Company and ask they guys there what they think. My fix was < $300.00 by replacing the brain.
Did it fixed ur issues? I have 01 DGC sport and almost everything been replaced except engine, pcm, ecm, my car just started stalling misfiring, weriof noise in muffler area like clogged sound but it been replaced. Oh yea I forgot I not replaced my reasonator Ik I spelled it wrong..
i was worried on emc bcz my cluster panel started flickering air bag lights and batt light and brakes,, few yrs ago but haven't seen it do it anymore..
i read u supposed to reset the emc after each part replaced like TCS, IAC,map,etc is that true?
i have both PCM and emc and I heard that it could fix the issues..
im the 2 owner and on my PCM was flashed b4 buying it it marked on pmc I've got it 03 or 04 ..
I try to get it reflashed but no one in 300 miles radius have a scanner for my year.. this is ridiculous have a car I can't flash or reprogram used or new pcm or emc I'll never buy dodge again ..

the PCM is a computer and like all computers on earth

a tech sees any 23 year old car and checks the engine out first, if fuses are good and SCans car clean/
I bet scans are not clean of DTC errors,
he keeps battery charged. (a tool) lugs clean and tight x4.
he cranks it and makes sure it spins fast , not slug like.
then checks spark is good on all cylinders never just 1.
ok all have spark.
then tries test fuel (spray instant start in a can) $5
he checks engine compression on all cylinders 150psi and up on all. if not engine is bad, EFI runs a weak engine but not the DEAD.

all we can do for you is teach how to do the tests and find the real cause. Tools + tests = success (skill sets)

spark bad (or lost all 12Vdc power to modules, Efi)
fueling bad.
in that order not the reverse ever, spark engines not diesel
we use tools to check each in proper turn.

You can hear the ignition switch click over to the relay on the fuse box but that's it.
The ignition clicks and so does the relay but nothing else. I am wondering what would cause it to just quit while I am driving it and then not start again?
I am not sure how to check the feul presure, I did just change that out 3 months ago. I dont know how to check if I have spark because the engine wont even turn over. I used a tester from Auto Zone and I couldn't see any codes, none stored. I have a 3.8L
do you have fuel pressure? do you have spark? do you know what code was stored in the computer? which motor do you have?
You say you tried to start it and nothing. Does the engine turn over and not catch, or does simply not even turn over?

the crank shaft turns over,(and spins if lucky)
the engine runs,(this is not called turns over ever!) but vast do say it and means zero.
the engine then RUNS
the engine then sustains running via magic of EFI.
or stalls in 10 seconds, and is IMMO failing or 50 other causes.
