If I remember correctly the power steering fluid fill is on the driver's side at the front of the engine at the same level as the exhaust manifold. It has a black cap and if is dirty is hard to see. Just remember that it is right on the power steering pump and behind the power steering pulley and that should help make it easier to find. Hope this helps. Let me know if it does or you need more help.

What kind of power steering fluid is used for a 1998 ford mustang (v6)? Is Dot 3 brake fluid ok?

Do not use DOT 3 brake fluid in a power steering pump. It will eat away all of the seals and hoses. If you are looking at power steering fluid, any power steering fluid will work. If we are talking about brake fluid, Then yes use DOT 3 brake fluid or DOT 4 break fluid. The top of the master cylinder should tell you which to use.

Poured oil into power steering for 66 mustang. It normally uses F type transmission oil. Do I need to drain it? Will it damage power steering

Thankfully it wouldn't damage anything. However it is a messy job to drain the fluid back out. Either a shop can do it for you, or you can simply remove the return line and place it into a bucket. Turn it by hand to get most of the fluids out. Replace with cheap Type F, since you'll probably have to do it a few times to completely replace the fluid. Make sure its all red (Type F) or clear (Powersteering fluid). Good Luck

Leaking power steering fluid

Yes most of the time you can get a seal to replace the one that is there. I am pretty sure the parts stores have one for your steering gear box.

Power steering fluid

Nothing will happen. Power steering fluid is what you should have used. ATF is Automatic Transmission Fluid. This fluid is more intended where friction qualities are needed. It will work, but power steering fluid is better for the pump and hoses and gives the rack and pinion a better lubrication the ATF.Don't worry you are fine as it is.
